Stuff is going in, we went to my Dad's for lunch today and she ate bread and butter with pumpkin soup, salad - carrot and capsicum sticks and a chicken drumstick. Cooked chicken smells much the same on the way out as it does going in.

I have been cooking up large pasta pieces and serving that with the vege purees as a sauce, I dip the pasta into the puree and she sucks it off.

Today was a full BLW day no purees we both had a load of fun. I just let Jacob try whatever he wanted, pretty much, so at seven months he'd have about anything. Of course, harder things were more for the taste, he'd never actually eat much of them, so if you want to know for sure lots is going in I'd go for softer stuff. Noodles were a favourite (although he never seemed to get much down), vegemite toast, cooked carrot sticks, melon (he would eat heaps of that), cheese sticks, pieces of meat (he loves them and will suck them for ages, till they're grey and dry).

ETA that I still kept doing purees at the same time, so he wasn't getting all his food from finger food.

What the others said, it can be anything that is soft enough for her to mush against the roof of her mouth and bite with her gums but firm enough to hold (kumara chips are a great one!) and just let her go nuts and when she's done you'll soon know!

Re less messy, well it's a pretty messy experience! You can give her pretty much anything as a finger food. Just make sure its soft enough for her to mush up in her mouth, but firm enough to hold. Banana, carrots, fruit, tomato, cooked veges, cheese, rolled up bread, meat.
