I have had it in for 2 years now and I love it. I don't bleed much (if at all). However I will still be getting a full hystorectomy in a few years. I have issues with my ovaries hence why I am going for the full one.

Yep it does seem like a waste of time not doing it at the same time, but dr's usually have their reasons.

If I had major problems and was having a c-sec I would just ask for a partial hystorectomy only thing taken is uterus, ovaries are left so hormones arnt effected as bad.

I could be completely wrong but thats just from what searching i have done.

I had really bad periods (like what you explained) and as a result I got a Mirena put in all funded by my insurance company. I was asked by my gyne to try this first and then after a few years will do the hystorectomy. She could try a Mirena first if she wanted to to see how that goes.

The MW/Doc on the thread say that most Doctors wouldn't consider doing a hysterectomy due to excessive blood loss and the health benefits of keeping the ovaries. However if I opt for a TL, the periods (seemingly in most women's cases) get heavier and more frequent and it may not work. And I don't want that coz, really, it's already pretty darn bad.

It's not even really about contraception although that is a bonus...it's more about never wanting the witch again after the last baby.

What would you do now if this was you?
