It depends on how it smells like sheep, I reckon. We had a pure wool duvet that smelt a little like lanolin - it was bone dry and I quite liked it.

mine doesn't smell and it's a wool one, so I reckon it must be a bit damp too...

Yes it is definitely dry. I have had it airing in our sunroom for the last few days. I have heard that maybe soaking it in a 1 part vinegar, 2 part water bath and then drying will remove the smell.
