Oh yes we have a Cheapskates here too I think. I'll show him those websites & see if he likes anything he sees, they look great! I love his "struggle for style" too, I've encouraged him to have different-from-norm interests (after reading that teenagers are a lot more stable if they already have a strong sense of identity) so I guess that's translated into his appearance. (Our daughters are like that as well, but girls clothing is easier!) Have a look at these guys online - http://www.urbanclothing.co.nz/ the stuff in here is great! Cotton On kids might be another good option - they often have really funky stuff in there.

I like the fact that he is wanting to have his own "style".... good on him!

There are outlet surf shops in Otaki. I think Cheapskates had World Industries (or used to). I keep an eye on TM & I'll try Mr Vintage, thank you, he likes that style too, he rocked a fedora til someone asked him if it was to hide his bad hair, =(. No DH doesn't hunt, & ds is a gardener who has trouble killing snails, . Your store sounds very interesting Abz&H, I'll definitely have a look at that. We were watching John Butler Trio music vid & he liked the check pants/waistcoat look. Re transfers- I think that's a great idea but when I suggested it I got the doomed you-have-no-clue-do-you look. That makes him sound arrogant but he's honestly not, lol, I think he was frustrated more than anything. I think because I used to patch his jeans all the time (I'd sew canteen bandannas in behind the knee holes), which he thought was cool back then, but *he* feels he's more grown up now. Remind me why we're supposed to encourage their creativity & individuality again?!

Have you looked at the stuff they have on the Mr Vintage store (you can buy on line) their stuff is funky, like the surfy brands & lots of zip up hoodies (for adults not sure on kids) & prices are reasonable..

Have you looked on Trade Me - a friend buys all her sons label clothing on there as it usually lasts longer than the time it fits them (and its more likely to be unique)

The other thing does your man hunt? Hi, ds is 9y, 10y in Sept. He needs new jerseys as his old ones are getting too small, but my problem is he's really fussy & our shops here (Taranaki) are limited. He likes the zip up sweatshirt types, doesn't like fleece, he likes the surfie/skatie style clothing, & my biggest problem is he doesn't like to wear the same as anyone else. He loved World Industries brand but I can't find any local stockists? We're planning a roadtrip away to Akl or Wgtn, can you recommend a store?
