Arohanui is Amandas auckland based?  Have never heard of them down here but they sound fantastic!!

I'm a home-based educator, I go through Amanda's. They're amazing and provide everything for free (carseats, highchairs, cot, double buggy, unlimited art supplies etc). If you're in Auckland I really recommend going through them.

I charge $6 an hour, and Amanda's give me an extra $1 per child per hour, so I get $7 an hour. You can set your own rate through them. I collect/invoice the payments from the parents myself, and Amanda's gives me the top-up payments and the childcare subsidies. We have playgroup every 2 weeks and various trips/outings.

Set-up:
- a cot with wrapped mattress and a couple of changes of bottom sheets, blankets etc
- highchair
- age appropriate toys and books (library/toy library are great)
- fully fenced backyard
- double buggy (depending on age of kids)
- a room to sleep in.. we have a wooden portacot permanently set up in our master bedroom. Once Miss 20 months is in a bed, she'll sleep on the cot mattress either on the floor or on the bed.
- childproofing... safety things - medicine/cleaners up high or in locked cupboard (beware of dishwasher powder), knives away, smoke alarms etc.

Hi there,
Does anyone here wrk as an in-home educator?
I am thinking about doing it and would like to know more about it - like how much do you get paid? What kind of set up you need at home etc? (with regards to childproofing, sleeping areas et ) I have a 4 month old so not sure what it will be like.
