I hope he isn't sick for ages, but luckily he works in IT and can work from home when he is a bit better.

jazzy - I did for a moment think about changing Ava's daycare, but she is so confused and upset at the moment, the only stable thing is daycare and the friends she has there

Edited by denny25

I know it can be a hard decision to make but look at changing DD daycare to closer to home or your work, see if you can change your hrs at work to fit in around it. If you have to get up really early in the morning then get super organised & go to bed earlier so the mornings are not so rushed.

It may take a good 6mths for him to recover so be prepared to carry the load. Maybe its time to demand family help..if you can. If not get a babysitter or home help.

Depending on DD age try & get her involved...like daddy is not feeling well & the Dr's are giving him medicine to make him better & he has to stay there for awhile...lets make him a card, get heR to help with little jobs like washing, making beds, baking..depending on her age.

The hardest thing will be not to show your emotions around her, try to carry on as normal around her.

Try sticker charts & rewards for TT & sleeping...make a fuss of her.

Write a list of the hard to do things & see what you can change to make your life easier.

Ask for a meeting with his medical team to find the answers you need.

All the best

The nurses (I am one) probably won't be able to tell you if or what you can get it but the social worker will be able to, and if you can't get anything at least they will be someone to talk to who understands what you are going through.
If you can be there with the doctors when the see your husband tomorrow, ask for a family meeting to discuss the diagnosis etc. If you can't be there for the round then ask his nurse to organise one. It is often easier for the doctors to discuss these things in a meeting as they have more time for it than on a medical round, and are less likely to brush you off.
My sister and I had glandular fever as teenagers, she had it worse than me and it hang round with various levels for quite a few years along with toxoplasmosis and she was quite tired with it so I can imagine a bit what you are going through.
I hope he gets better quickly.

My partner has been diagnosed with glandular fever and acute hepatitis. He has been in hospital since thursday and won't be allowed out until his liver enzyme levels go down (they keep going up at the moment). He is jaundice, has an enlarged spleen and an enlarged liver. He can't sleep and has MAJOR headaches, not to mention his neck is twice the size it normally is!!

Has anyone else experienced glandular fever or hepatitis as an adult? I am scared beyond belief. I am exhausted from getting up at 5.30am to get ready to drop Ava off at daycare on the other side of town (DP normally does it because he works out that way), and not getting home until 6pm. Ava doesn't understand what is going on and has regressed in her toilet training and sleep habits. I can't sleep because I can't stop thinking about things and crying.

We don't really have any family support so it is pretty much just me.

I just want to know how long people experienced symptoms for etc and what to expect (the Dr's are useless!)
