Thanks for the suggestions.
At this stage I am thinking breakfast in bed, followed by a trip to Willowbank, followed by high tea.
Friends can choose what they want to come along to (well, except the breakfast in bed!).

Wait til you turn 35, that blows, especially when you get told that your Gma who's turning 85 should have a party on your actual birthday cause turning 85 is special...right & 35 is nothing obviously still bitter here LMAO

I celebrated mine by ... my husband forgetting it (even though it was written in his diary). Not his finest moment and he keeps getting reminded of it. By comparison, anything would be good High tea with a glass of bubbles (with OJ mixed in if you want to decrease the alcohol), nice romantic dinner, brunch with friends, bit of pampering (massage or something) ... that would be on my list.

my husband took me to Paradise Valley in Rotorua I had always wanted to pat Lion Cubs wasnt interested in having a party and then we had dinner at lone star.

Hmm, I've been wondering about this as well. Mine is in July. I was 38 weeks pregnant for my 30th so both families (mine and inlaws) went out to dinner only think is that my birthday is boxing day so most "nice" restaurants were shut but it ended up being a good night!

I must admit I did have a way better 31st! Unplanned tho just from lunch time onwards people came to visit and I got spoilt rotten and they didnt leave until midnight hehe!

I did Brunch for my 30th. I didn't have a party in me . We had some brioche, homemade bread and some nicer fruit (melons, pawpaw etc) and sat outside in the sun. I was lucky enough to be travelling with DH (Dublin for the actual birthday for my first ever Guinness [:D)) but have already told DH that I do not want to do anything for my 40th (in a few years) Not my thing. I am having a party, but I am not BFing and my kids are a little older.

What about a dinner party either at your house or at a kid friendly place to eat.

Or another idea is an afternoon tea that way everyone is gone by night time.

Hey! Just like me!
I'm 30 next month and people keep asking if I'm going to have a party.
As fun as it would be, I don't think I could handle it on top of the night wakings and 5:30am starts with the 3 y/o.

So I'm just going to have a nice family dinner (maybe a wine or two once Mason's down at 8pm) and then a few friends over for an afternoon tea the following weekend. Will do some baking and put on coffee and tea and just have a bit of an open house.
DH and I are going to go to the movies and dinner together, too.

Not long til I am 30. Yikes.

Anyone got any suggestions on how to celebrate - I have a young baby who I am bf-ing so celebrations can't involve much alcohol or late nights.

I am looking for ideas that would suit a large group, be low-cost, and child friendly.
