We are the same. Have travelled with DS car seat and pram (PnT's) and had no problems. I think you can check it in in the original box if you wanted to. That is good about the carseats. We just travelled to the UK and our P&T Vibe (in a proper Vibe bag) got damaged during the first leg and has a big bend in the handle, right where the brake is, and torn fabric so effectively spent our trip with a buggy with no brakes. It is getting replaced though.

So glad everyone has had a good experience as I was put off when I checked my mountain buggy (bubble wrap and cardboard on the sticking out bits and all in a heavy duty plastic bag) and it came out the other end with big scratches on the handles and a tear in the fabric on the hood. Must have just been bad luck if so many people have had no issues. We flew with our carseat just a couple of weeks ago. Yeah same here, done plent of flights. Just make sure its in a plastic or green bag. I've only checked in a car seat domestically. They've always put it in a plastic bag first and it's always been perfect.

Long haul (Welly - Dublin) I've checked in the double Mountain buggy and it's come out perfect at the other end.

We've checked the carseat & buggy in with Air NZ a few times now and never had any problems at all.

I only hired a carseat once and have never done it again, it was expensive and TBH was well worn. Caroline,
We do take our carseat with us and have had no problems, but on saying that we tend to hire and borrow when we go to the UK.
Pop it in a bag and give it to the oversize check in staff. they ususally come through pretty quickly as well at the other end

I've checked a carseat and stroller with AirNZ several times, no damage at all. I put them in the bags and give them to the oversized baggage people, and they've always been fine. Has anyone done this?

We are flying at the end of the week and I need to take an extra carseat with us. I have always avoided taking a carseat with me in the past as I am worried about them being flung around and damaged by airline staff

SO am I being a bit over the top? Has anyone checked one before and did they come back undamaged? We have to change so effectively 4 individual flights in total.

The only other option is to try and hire one which I will do but just wondered whether I am being OTT and should just take mine with me?
