I find it helps to eat what I actually feel like (at the same time being careful with dairy and gluten). I find that if I really fancy something that it tends to sit better in my stomach ... maybe just a mind thing??? We always make sure we have a few dinner options each night so I can choose what I feel like rather than trying to eat something I don't really feel like. I get quite stressed about eating and feeling ill so to do this makes a massive difference ... it makes me feel a little less stressed about it all which I'm sure helps lots!

Sorry if TMI but thats IBS for you.

My gp sent me to dietician at HOsp a couple times thru each of my other pregnancies. Doubt she will this time but if she does I will go. good to get the latest advice direct from a dietician and for FREE!

Whilst pregnant, I found I could tolerate dairy just fine, in fact, I had cheese cravings throughout! However gluten continued to be a trigger food for me and as such I didn't touch it throughout the pregnancy. Like the others I'd agree that it is totally safe, no risk at all to baby. In fact, DH is a celiac, and his specialist reassured me even with our combined problems that our daughter only has a 10% chance of inheriting a gluten allergy.

Hope that helps!

I'm suppose to be gluten free, have had a small relapse though, I'm lucky and get no IBS symptoms all pregnancy which makes it far too easy to indulge in bready loveliness, I should stop though cos it effects my iron levels

I know its IBS type pain rather than anything to do with baby

Anyway from what I have read its not uncommon for IBS symptoms to disappear in the first trimester and come back the second trimester

Anyway just wanted to know if there is anyone out there that has IBS and what has happened during pregnancy etc

Also was thinking of going back to gluten free tomorrow for a few days and see if I get any relief from the wind / bloating etc - is it safe to be gluten free in pregnancy? something I will ask my ob next time anyway

Thanks
