Ok...so it is a little kiwi high chair - similar mechanism to the skep one. You can slide the tray off...

(I was confused before...I knew that it was kiwi something...so linked the kiwi baby website....so, on the right track!!!)

I have a mocka one and love it, i have my toddler in that one and the baby sits in an Ikea one cos he does slip down when i've put him in it. You would need a harness i think if you have a wriggler.

It's as easy as the plastic Ikea one to keep clean and i don't find that feet stick out at all. Both bum and footrests are adjustable. We don't actually use the tray very often, mostly have it pushed up against the table which is great for my almost 3 yo.

My friend has a different brand one and hers is crap tbh, flimsy and not as good quality. You get what you pay for in the end i think. I got mine second hand off tme. It looks like Skep do another one too, which, like the mocka, has a flip tray (It's on the menu page of the baby online website...)

Shop arouind - I got he harness free with mne. I used it a bit early on, mainly to help keep him upright!

It does hurt when you stub your toe on the back of the legs, but the same goes for any chair.

DS loves his - we took the tray off just a month back, and he loves siting up at the table with us, as he has done all along. He has a wee table and chairs where he used to have morning tea, but now he takes himself off to the table.

I don't use the harness jules because my gal is a very happy eater and rarely tries to get out of her seat. But we do have the harness and I suspect there will come a time that we'll need it. But just to re-iterate; the harness is not a 'Mocka' brand, nor is it designed for the Mocka chair. It's just a random harness that you could get at the Warehouse/Farmers/Babycity etc. Not bagging Mocka at all (I love their stuff) but I don't think it'd be worth just ordering that from them unless you were buying other stuff.

Oh and MC I can take some photos of Kiara in hers showing the bum and foot rests etc if you want?

We don't have one - but I really like it. A friend of mine has the Kiwi baby verion here which has a removable tray. I *think* the mocka trays flip up over their head and isn't removable. Interesting about the harness we haven't got one and we were just about to order two because they have started to twist themselves around in the chair.

Do you still use the mocka harness thesaff or have you found something better somewere else?

I keep my eye on them and don't leave the room at all when they are in the chairs. Hi MC, another fan of the wooden mocka highchair . Ok, to answer your questions:

* the bum bit is big enough for our wee people - C sits forward in his seat, but there is plenty of room behind him for bum growth.

* yes, you can adjust both the seat height and the foot rest height. Lots of little slots on both sides makes this really easy to do.

* the tray bit has 2 settings, one closer in and one 'normal', I have it set closer in and its fine.

* the highchair comes with a fabric belt for lack of a better description, that you thread through the seat and under the tray - it goes between their legs, so don't worry W ain't going nowhere in that sucker!

One thing I thought about them is the bum piece doesn't look very big, kinda gives me the impression of 'perching' on the edge of a seat? Or is it not so much like this IRL?

Also I wasn't too sure if I picked it up wrong, but can you adjust the height of both the seat and foot rests? But as I said, I might have picked that up wrong? (Just thinking ahead to when hes bigger etc)

Does it matter if the tray piece isn't adjustable inwards? As in closer to baby? Mum has a el cheapo off trademe highchair and we find its handy being able to push the tray in closer (although he does have to sit on a towel to be tall enough... and hes not short!)

Ideally we'll be using it on the kitchen table, but at the moment we don't have a 'real' table (only a very, very small one) so would be using the tray in the meantime (until we go shopping!!!!)

We have a waterblaster if it gets that bad

Is it still safe enough without a harness? I guess I'm just a little paranoid of him slipping down under the tray while I'm not looking! ETA- I dont think 8 months is too late at all to buy a highcahir. DD used a highchair until she was 3yrs old. The wooden mocka one can be used as a chair at the table too- DD is 4 1/2 now and is stiull way too short/small to reach the table sitting on our normal chairs- still has to use a cushion.
You can always use if for the next baby, or sell it.

I love it MC and I'll definitely be getting another one for number 2.

The leg splay on their plastic one is huge - not on the wooden one. The legs in fact take up only slightly more than the the same space of a normal chair.

Pro's; It's mega adjustable so can always sit at a good height which is really important if you want your little one to feed themselves. I love the look of it. I like that when they're older you can take the tray off and just push it up to the proper table like a normal chair. It's really solid and steady. Kiara tries to climb up it and it doesn't move at all.

Cons; It's wood so it can scratch (eg when someone stabs it repeatedly with a fork). There's no lip on the child side of the tray so it's easy to sweep food onto their lap/floor. But this also makes it easier for them to reach food to feed themselves so make up your own mind whether that's a good or a bad thing. Some people have said it's harder to clean than a plastic one. I haven't found this at all (although I did oil the table slightly). In fact I've found it far easier to clean than the plastic ones, particularly the seat and footrest areas.

It comes with the cushions but I ditched them early or you end up washing them every day. I definitely also wouldn't buy the harness they sell to go with it. It barely fits it and is a generic one anyway that you could get from any baby shop.

Picopico also do a very similar chair (my MIL has one), and I think there's another company as well. They're all very similar. I'd just go on price.

ETA; Nowhere near too late MC. Kiara still uses hers and will for ages. That's the advantage of the adjustablity and the removable tray. I really like the fact she sits with us at the table for meals rather than separate at a 'little person's table'.

I don't think the 'splay' is big at all, we have two in the lounge at all times! They don't take up to much room and if we push the tray back and push up against the table (ours are about the same colour as the dining table)doesn't look too much different from one of the chairs. I love thats its not plastic.

I think everyone in my coffee group has them now, very popular.

I looked through there and most of them are for the plastic highchair... Which we aren't so keen on. Just want to know more about the wooden one.

Also what are the legs like on it? I've heard a few people say the 'splay' on the bottom of their high chair is quite big and the legs always seem to be in the way?

We love ours, and 8 months is not too late to get one. DS is 2 tomorrow and still uses his, plus you can take the tray off and use it as a normal chair at the table when they are older.
