Thanks for the congrats guys - of course I remember you all

Things are starting to get better here, Managing to do nights on my own - which is good because DH has gone back to work but Mum is here this week which is just like a dream. She even cooks tea, and holds Lucan while DH & I inhale!

Hi Guys,

I havent posted in here since I found out I was pregnant but thought I would pop in and say hi.

We had our wee man on the 12th at 6.26pm, weighing 10pound 7! His name is Max Henry. Labour was awesome, only 3.5hours and 10mins of pushing. Had a massive bleed afterwards but that is all over now and we are home and trying to muddle our way through!!

It is funny that this is baby number 2 and I thought I would be way more confident in knowing that the first few weeks are awful but do past but I still feel like a deer in the headlights and there have been a few tears! Haha. I guess you get used to a toddler who feeds themselves and goes to sleep all night and forget its completly normal for a 1 week old to feed all night!!

Ah well, one day at a time!

I look forward to getting to know some of you, not sure if there is a facebook page too or not but would be keen to join that.

Things have been REALLY up and down, he's not easy to wind, so has lots of tummy pain, and spends hours crying or comfort suckling on me. Had a panic last night that maybe I'm not supplying him with enough milk and gave him a Formula feed but I expressed before we fed him for the rest of the night & I am producing 40ml every 2.5hours which isn't as bad as we thought it was.... so this morning I gave in and tried the dummy - he went down like a troper.

Nothing can ever prepare you for the ups and downs - and its even worse when DH can settle Lucan in for sleeps and he wont with me (though DH keeps saying you try sleeping a toddler in a lolly shop!)

Mum will be here next week which I cannot wait for - she's the worlds best cook, and LOVES ironing! They are pretty stoked with their first grandson so I'm sure Lucan will be well mauled hehe

Right have been on here so many times to post this, but babies take up a tonne of time

Lucan was born on the 09th of November, at 2.06am weighing in at 8lb, 49cm tall - in the birthing pool at home!

All went pretty smoothly, labour was 7.5hours long, including 1hr of pushing. Poor hubby struggled to keep up with my need for HEAVY lower back massage in between setting everything up... once our mate arrived she took over.

A couple I had were nice enough, although because I was under obstetrics and baby was under the special care baby unit team I didnt have a lot to do with them. When you have a baby in the SCBU the nurses there help you with breast feeding.
I think you have to make sure you ask for what you need whether it be for pain relief, or help with breast feeding or settling baby. They dont tend to be pro active in their care. One MW I had was really good though.

Hey guys on 31st October by c section baby Ari was born, he was 8lbs 6 oz. Had a few complications during the c section and Ari had problems with his breathing and spent two days in the special care baby unit but both have improved now and we are home! Good luck to you guys still waiting!

It will all depend on how my scan goes tomorrow, checking fluid level, cord , baby's growth, if something isnt quite right then will prob look at booking my c section. If all is good then I have to decide how long I want to go as I am in hope of natural labour kicking in. Wow that is FULL ON Sally! Hope that bubs is still doing ok - Same question here as kiwineece - how long will they leave your body 'practicing' before they'll intervene?

Was up our hospital this morning for a quick check up, bumped into one of the husbands from AN classes, he'd been kicked out of the delivery suite But he got called back in while we were talking cause the bubs was pretty close.

Then another husband walked through and told me to go see them after my app, their little girl was born yesterday morning She was totally adorable

So Jealous and want my baby NOW hehe. Hi guys no baby news for me, turns out I have an irritable uterus so have had 3 weeks of cramps, braxton hicks, contractions but doesnt eventuate into labour [:s Am so over it. I have a scan on friday to make sure baby is ok with it all, as when I was being monitored on the CTG machine baby's heart rate would race with my decent contractions and my MW is being cautious as I could end up having a tired uterus and tired baby. Have got used to it now at first it was rather exciting thinking I was in early labour but no.......

Agreed with being over it! Yesterday I've arranged to do half days for the rest of this week (I finish on friday).... So have only JUST sat down at my desk!

Just had my cousins wife email me to say they are expecting in March Super stoked as its taken them a bit to get to this point. So that's 4 babies in 5 months for my extended family!

Hi guys has any one in our Nov group had early arrivals yet? I may be early past the 'bloody show' on sat and had reg period type cramps from 9am - 7pm when they stopped they didnt build in intensity though. I m having all these symptoms like feeling energized, diahorrea, lost the show, constanting period aching/ braxton hicks although no actualy contractions yet. So who knows its just a waiting game!!! I woke up this morning with cramps in my legs - but only when I bent them

Yup did the P&C show - COMPLETELY Filled my sisters pram (to the point the 9mth had to be carried around in my sisters sling). Felt a lil sick over how much money I'd spent but We'd been saving for me to do a massive shopping day - and its been years since I've really splurged.

But other than the foam topper for the change table we just need our bubba to make an appearance so we can start using it all

Was meant to catch up with my cousin who's due date was exaclty a month before mine - but 10mins before she was due to leave her house to meet us at her Mum's, her waters broke! Good luck training your temp! Mine has been an absolute nightmare (to put it lightly!)

Have you checked out TM for drawers? We brought ours new - but off there and they were a REALLY good deal..... We've been fortunate enough that my sisters have had kids so they unloaded a tonne of stuff on us

Good plan on the capsule - apparently our Plunket has just re-furbished their seats so hope yours has to! Once again I've borrowed the capsule, and when bubs is 4-5mths old I'll buy the next one up, there are some really good ones around that will do from NB till they are 5, and not hideously over priced either

Umm not 100% on the clothing - guess it all depends on how big your bubs will be. My sister told me to have a few Premmie outfits (so I have 6 I think) cause even her 8lbr wore prem stuff for a couple of weeks. Being summer I'm not too worried if we dont have a tonne of clothing because the sun shall be shining & drying my clothes everyday if need be Plus no baby is going to notice if they've worn the same outfit over and over hehe

Looks like it's going to be hot here today as well, hoping to escape work a bit early as I'm off to Auckland to go to the P&C show tomorrow.... and shop till I drop. Hi Ladies!

Well I still have 3 weeks left at work but most of that will be training the temp who starts on Monday finally!

We still need to get a chest of drawers. But it's proving tricky as we're on a bit of a budget. I'll just keep combing the second hand stores for now.

We're hiring bub's capsule through Plunket. We thought seeing as we don't know how long bub's will be in it for we may as well hire then we'll buy the next one up when he/she grows out of the capsule because they'll be in that one for longer.

I went through the clothing that we have for bub's, so far, on the weekend and I have noticed that there is plenty of 000 and 0-6mths stuff but not much 0000 and newborn stuff. How much newborn stuff do you really need? Might need to do another shopping trip.

Well it is hot today in little Taumarunui! I am swealtering! Yay for getting a week working from home! I'm pretty much doing nothing these days anyway - the temp has my office & everyone is approaching her for stuff now so I'm just doing odd tasks here and there (and surfing the internet)

Good luck wiht your purchases - I'm down to quite a short list of what is left to buy... thank goodness - there are so many options it REALLY takes a bit to get my head round it all.

I'm in Rotorua so can't do your coffee group... I think there may be one on the FB group though?

And yay for a set date (all going to plan of course) - one thing I'm not looking forward to playing the unknown waiting game.

I have 4 weeks left at work but one of them I will work from home. We got our c-section date locked in for the 17th November (that is if he stays put).

I'm finding it hard on where to draw the line - lucky we have quite limited space so I've had to plan purchases well. Get our change table this weekend, that will clear out some space in the drawers - for the clothes that are still in bags to find a home!

The hopsital visit helped me make up my mind for a home birth (all going to plan of course). Also have you read the latest TummyTalk mag? Hey all,

You ladies who have experienced bleeding are so brave, good on you for staying calm! Definitely take the excuse to slow down and find slaves to do your dirty work. A little cold took me out of action for a full 5 days. By the end of it I was bored but I bet I look back at that particular boredom as a luxury!!

I haven't had the braxton hicks yet. Just a lot of rib pushing and aches and pains. Waking up sore is not something I want to get used to but may as well expect it for a few more months, I am sure a new baby will prove a good distraction. 8 weeks to go!

Today I'm taking a look at the hospital and the birth centre to try and make a final decision where I want to give birth. There are so many decisions when having a baby!!

Hi guys

Just noticed this thread up and runnning again as I wasnt part of the FB group.
Things are ticking a long although was in hospital two weeks ago as started bleeding and having mild contractions. Thankfully everything settled and I have an irritable uterus which means I have lots of braxton hicks and cramps but doesnt eventuate into labour. couldnt find the cause of bleeding but had stopped. So have been behaving myself since then.
Am finding it difficult to sleep too get very achy hips and nothing seems to help, pillow between legs etc. So certainly looking forward to having this baby out. Have 6 more shifts of work then am off, cant wait!

Big move Coffeemum! Hope you are settling into your new place well? I'm up in Auckland on a semi regular basis as I only moved to Rotorua about 4 years ago so all my family & some friends are still up there.... This baby better be prepared for regluar 3hour trips

Bugger Kiwineece - Yup slowing down is hard BUT you will gutted you didnt take time out for you once bubs arrives - My Dr has put me off work for a couple ot times when I'd normally have worked through a cold or something, because you dont get sick days when you have a baby

I'm still amazed at how quickly I'm getting tired! The drive to Auckland next week will be interesting, will leave work early so I can go up Friday avo me thinks... Though I'll need something to keep me going as I have a hard day shopping & the P&C show on saturday! DH has been working really hard lately and keeps saying the extra dosh is for my shopping trip

Lots off feet under my ribs - just uncomfortable more than anything, told DH I dont mind if bubs comes anytime after I fin work (14th Oct), I'd much rather early than late (now I'll be late!).

MW made me feel right down by my pelvic bone - got to feel a shoulder! Well I have recovered from my migraine thank goodness. But now the aches and pains are starting to plague me! Mum said I need to slow down but I just can't! I already have sidelined a lot of things I used to do and I keep thinking if I slow down any further I'll be doing nothing!

GoodCoffeeMum I'm due the 18th of November and I'm also thinking if bubs comes early it's could be October or if too late it will be December! But it doesn't bother me either way really as long as bubs is healthy.
Wo Kiwineece that must have been a lil scary for you? I know I would have been freaking out a little! I hope everything is fine and you are taking it easy!

Well other than feeling tired and sore everything is going well. Bub's is still moving lots, maybe not so many kicks now but definitely lots of wriggles and sweeping movements. The hiccups were coming through in full force for a few days this week so bubs must have been having a growth spurt!

Anyway I guess I better go now and do some work *sigh*. HEHEHE - I so know the feeling about the one person who wont leave your tummy alone. I wonder if I grabbed someones boobs at work if that would be sexual harassment or not hehehe. I am meeting with the specialist on Monday to work out a date for my c-section. We ended up in hospital on Monday with a bleed that ended up being a small placental tear so have been told I need to slow down big time....something I am really not good at...but it would have been worse.

I have just moved to Auckland after being away and living in Wellington for a few years. Lots of friends down there are in baby making mode too.

I feel super lucky so far with how the pregnacy is progressing, lots of little aches and pains but no drama!

Yup active babies are good - though annoying for trying to get comfortable - currently mine is tucked up under my right ribs - can't bend over that way at all

Ugh MASSIVE case of baby brain - bit on a tummy tub on TM - only to work out that they are ages away from my sister and its a pick up only auction.... have emailed offering to send a courier ticket or if they'd rather to re-list the item.

And in rant news....
Had my Great-Grandmothers 95th on sat, I was rather worried bout all the old biddies rubbing my bump... BUT no it was an aunty (whom I dont see that much) that was all over it like a rash. Aww that sucks Tazzy - hope you get a better nights rest tonight! I find if I sleep during the day then I pretty much don't sleep that night, which at the moment wouldn't make a differenct cause I'm half awake tossing & turning.

Update on my friend who was in Waikato - she ended up giving birth to the girls naturally on Wed round 3pm. This is the girl as soon as she knew she was pregnant booked in for a c-section, didn't even contemplate a VBAC. We are so proud of her cause there were no drugs involved at all, most likely helps that she didn't realise she was in labour till she was 8cm dialated! & Her OB and his backup were overseas when it all happened so she'll get the $4,500 back that she'd paid him

Well what a bad past 24hrs for me!!!
I went to my midwife appointment and everything was going well there, except my iron is low so I'm on tablets now but that didn't bother me too much. We had just finished listening to the heartbeat when I saw the all too familiar flickering in my eye. Low and behold I got a migraine attack while at the midwife! I haven't had one in so long that I thought the pregnancy had chased them away! Anyway I had to stay there for half an hour waiting for the aura to pass cos I can't drive as I can't see! Oh the joys... I then went back to work and told them I was going home. Popped myself into bed and had a couple of hours solid sleep which always happens cos these things trash my body. Anyway got up and had tea and watched some tv and did the norm but feeling like I had been beaten around the head. Then I showered and went back to bed but do you think I could sleep???!!!! Grrr tossed and turned the whole night. My mind would not close down. Anyway woke up feeling like I had been run over by a truck! I came into work late but still feel like crap! Think I'll go home soon and try get some of that sleep I missed out on last night!

Anyway thats my little rant for the day!!!

I had my baby shower on the weekend to! Was against the idea but ended up having some fun - was horrified at how long some of the ribbon was cut for my belly measurement, its ok Mum got hers SPOT on (even though she's never touched my bump!)

Yup presents were good, i can get back to buying the rest of the stuff we still need/want now... though DH just purchased 2 new pig dogs & has chewed up my baby funds Have told him he has to do plenty of OT to make it up

Still no hiccups for me starting to feel like i'm missing out!

Well hi ladies!

Bit of an update. I had my baby shower on the weekend and it was lovely. Not too big and nothing flash but plenty of good food! I got some awesome prezzies too It really made it hit home that this baby is going to be here very soon! But that is a good thing. Looking at all the cute clothes and stuff makes me gush

In other news bub's has had the hiccups a few times these past few days! So cute but kinda annoying too! I think bub's even gets fed up, has a bit of a thrash around if they go for too long! lol

Anyway I hope everyone else is well. I have midwife at lunchtime today and hopefully all will be well there too!

Baby Shower this weekend for me - got my Adoptive parents coming down so DH has put hunting off till Sunday so he can be around for lunch etc, though he feels obliged to spend the avo entertaining my sisters daughter with dad which he will just be thrilled about.

Got a friend in Waikato, she's 32w with twins and & waters broke Sunday night, they've stopped the labour and are just waiting till the right time to do a c-section, hoping to leave the girls inside for that little bit longer Got the Tiny prem clothes off my sister that she used for her twins that i'll take up to her, and just generally give her cuddle s& support should she still be 'one person' so to speal

Hey everyone. Hope all is well.

Taking half a day off this afternoon. Nice to be at home with my feet up.

My health is generally good although I did get a cold and still have the runny nose from it hanging about.

Had my midwife's stand-in for the past few months. Just got to see my actually midwife again today. She is awesome. So glad that she is back. Her stand-in wasn't really ideal for me.

What does everyone have planned for the weekend? My inlaws are coming to stay. DH dad is going to help with the reno whilst I entertain his mum doing goodness knows what. Wish me luck.

Well I woke up having slept RIGHT through the night! First time in weeks - don't feel that much better for it though... apparenlty I was still pretty restless at one point DH woke with my elbow in his face hehe

We asked some close friends if she would be our 2nd support person at the birth & if they'd be guardians to bubs should anything happen to Matt or I, for some reason I was really nervous asking them! Of course they accepted straight away without batting an eye lid... I got a text after we'd left their place saying they were totally stoked to be asked and hadn't expected it at all

At what point do we need to change our wills does anyone know? Ha yea hands and knees is a bit of a mish!

The temp is the same one we hired 18mths ago as a finance assistant.... but she ended up doing mainly H&S stuff..... I actually spent 3 months training her so she could do the month end while I was in Canada at the beginning of the year - you'd NEVER guess she'd done any of my stuff before cause we are basically having to start again! A bit mean but I've taken to calling her cabbage to DH & a couple of my friends

Lol kiwineece! I really try not to get down on my hands and knees as it is such an effort to get back up! Usually I need help!

CrazyCass I managed to shave mine the other night too! They felt amazing afterwards too! I hope I can get a few more shaves in before I have to maybe, just maybe enlist the help of DP! The toe nail cutting this I'm a bit squemish about, I hate people touching my feet! But I have been contemplating getting a pedicure done.

At least you have a replacement CrazyCass my work hasn't even organised anything yet! I really hope they sort it out soon because I really don't want the extra stress of trying to teach someone in a short space of time! Haha beached preggo lady stuck on the floor!!

I'm not doing too bad with bending down - actually managed to shave my legs in the shower the other night, DH was most impressed! He has kindly offered to help out when that sort of thing gets hard! Not 100% if I'm comfortable with that.

He did draw the line at cutting my toe nails - but mum LOVES picking stuff so she jumped at the chance (ew! I have the worlds stinkiest feet!)

Isnt it funny how one day you can touch your toes and then the next you cant even see your toes. Ugh sitting here enjoying my last day of peace at my desk, I had a temp cover me in Feb when I went to Canada for 3 weeks. She did my head in (took 3months to train her and even then I did heaps of stuff before I went & when I got back) - NOT looking forward to the next 6weeks. The putting socks on thing is starting to become a struggle for me now too! Well actually the bending over at all is getting hard!

CrazyCass I totally know what you mean about the bump getting in the way. It's amazing how my mind still thinks I'm skinny and I "bump" into things so to speak!

Can anyone balance their plate on their belly yet? Yep, have definitely noticed the reaching thing, but more reaching the floor or my feet to put my shoes or socks on!! lol

Doesn't Feb seem like it was yonks ago! 10.5weeks left for me (provided we are the 5% that arrive on their due date)

I know that feeling with morning sickness. Hi Ladies,
I'm expecting our first around 6 Nov. I was a regular on the TTC boards but have been awol recently....it took us a long time to conceive and I've found actually being pregnant a bit overwhelming.

I had the same dream over and over when we first found out I was pregnant about a 2-3yo boy, but lately I've had the sacrey nohting goes right but definately wouldnt happen they way it did in the dream about birthing a little girl, guess I'll find out this afternoon which was true!

Has anyone googled the online gender prediction tests? An old wives tale one says I'm having a boy, but the wedding ring test says I'm having a girl! no help at all I tell you!
