Poppy was born by emergency c-sect on Sunday night at 8lb 1oz. My waters broke at 3am and I went into labour soon after, at about midday I was in full on labour and at 4pm had an epidural. The labour didn't really progress very well and they kept feeding the syntocinon into me which produced lots of very strong contractions (couldn't feel a thing - bliss - epidurals are wonderful) but Poppy started to get a bit stressed and I didn't dialate any further than 7cm. Finally after lots of umming and ahhing by all concerned they decided to send me to theatre.

I got out of hospital on Friday afternoon - was starting to get cabin fever! Poppy is doing well.

That is one great mothers day present. You picked it though didn't you. Hope the stand in midwife was ok. I was hoping the lack of posts from you meant that he had arrived. I really like the name Jeremy as well, it was on our short list of boys names

Only 2 more to go now. So be careful what you allow them to do to you as its not always the best way to do it.We put so much trust in these people and never think they may be doing anything wrong.
This time im going to let everything just happen when its ready and im not going to try and rush the process. Will be a lot less painfull i recon.Good luck Spuddling and Eomachine,im so jealous your ready to pop and im not!LOL Im getting so impatient now.

I feel pretty much the same as I did last week and the week before, except slightly bigger. Oh, I do have one nasty symptom to point out! The intense, horrible pressure on my pelvis when I'm walking, it's like he is squeezing the life out of my bladder. The midwife said he was 2 out of 5 descended/engaged, so I guess that's where that is coming from!

I think I'll go over now. Author: mamanee
Subject: 3819
Posted: 28 April 2007 at 6:18pm

Well, my sisters dream didn't come true, I didn't go into labour today. YAY! So not ready. I got my cot yesterday. My dad wanted to get us one of our 'big' items, so I was allowed to choose the one I wanted. I LOVE it. It is tea coloured apparently, well sort of a grey colour, and it has frosted panels on each end. I didn't get a new mattress though, I got a really good score from trademe. An innersprung cot mattress for $10. It's in really good condition.

I found this GREAT piece of information on a website. I hope it's true cause I said to DP last night 'I think I'm about as large and uncomfortable as it gets'.

"You probably didn’t think you could grow anymore just a few short weeks ago, but look at all you have achieved by now! By pregnancy 37 weeks you are probably at the largest you will be during your pregnancy. Your baby is still growing, but your abdomen and uterus won’t change too much in the next few weeks. "

YAY. Other than that, I am feeling really well. Sleeping ok, but apparently I have been snoring really loudly.

Have been washing cot sheets and sorting out the nursery this weekend. It still looks like a big mess as the cot is still sitting in the very middle of the room and there is packaging from all my presents scattered everywhere.

I am so excited for Sterryn and can't wait to see pictures of her little Sam. (as well as all the other babies that have been born in the last little while). It really brings it home for me though as it's getting so close and I still need to really grasp the fact that I AM having a baby. I'm not anxious about the birth, but I am a little scared of what happens aftewards!

Well, I hope you all have a good weekend.

I was having what I thought were contractions every 6-7 minutes for about 2 hours but they were more than likely BH contractions because the only pain I felt was in my lower back and a lot of pressure......I had been out most of the day and I think I must of over done it.
NOTE TO SELF: Slow down lol!!!!

Hows everyone else feeling today?

Mine is so nosey she drives me crazy, and over reacts to everything I tell her. When I failed the first GTT test it was all my fault for not eating properly and my blood pressure is clearly because I don't take it easy like my SIL did!
I get compared to my SIL (who has had 5 kids with no drugs and all natural deliveries with no problems) all the time. How is it my problem that she is a freak of nature! (I actually like my SIL, but seriously 5 kids)?
And she is younger than me! I'm fairly sure the last one walked out by himself!

I have done the same with MIL now and just tell her that everything is fine now when she asks.
She has now taken to texting or ringing me every day to see if I have gone into labour yet, it is driving me nuts!

We have a plan not to tell anyone I am in labour and then announce once Sam is here. This is going to cause major issues though since MIL has told both DH and me that we have to tell her the minute I go into labour. I am so not doing that, she would either be at the hospital trying to offer her annoying advice and being the center of attention as normal or texting and ringing every 5 minutes to find out how dilated I am etc. Ok, whinge officially over :)

Renee I looked at my book today and seem to have been measuring 40+ weeks since 34 weeks and am now nearly at due date. Hopefully this means you don't need to stress too much about having your Sam anytime soon.

I have asked her to not say anything to her Mum though if she can help it.
Also, I just felt a bit better knowing that I didn't have the whole family visualizing me popping baby out...silly but true.
One thing I am going to be stricker on this time round is first time visiters, I had MIL & SIL turn up within about 20mins of DH calling them...I was still in the shower when they arrived. This time I have asked my SIL to drop my DD off first for about an hour or so, just so we can have some time together first as our new family without all the extended family there too.

That's terrible!! What are you going to do?!?!' She was dead serious. Just got back from my nearly 36 weeks appointment with the midwife.

My blood pressure was 110/70!! YAY That is the best it has been. It was reasonably normal till about 28 weeks and since then has been borderline too high, but got a surprise today when she said it was very normal. Which meant no blood test for me this time! My normal midwife wasn't there today so I saw her backup. She was really nice and explained all my blood results to me. My iron stores were virtually non-existent so I was put on three iron tablets a day and that's been bumped to five a day now.

The scales had been taken out of the room today so I was let off being weighed! Thank god, cause I made and ate (with the help of DP) a huge banana cake on the weekend.

Feeling quite good this week, apart from slight indigestion at night time.

The biggest surprise for me today is that I'm measuring 40 weeks!!!! 40 weeks already!

Scary! Hope that doesn't mean my stepsisters dream will come true and I'll have this baby on saturday.

Hope all the may mums are hanging in there alright.
