We have exactly the same thing here - I look into DS' cot and his leg is sticking out the hole!
We haven't done anything to do it up, but I'm pretty sure you can get velcro with a sticky back - might be worth a try? I want to find some way to do up the travel hole in DD's GoGo Bag. She gets her leg through and then wakes up crying as it's not comfy and she's stuck. Not much of a sewing person but I wondered if velcro or domes would be better?
