mine has been fully engaged and a 3-4 on the scale for almost 3 weeks now...unfortunately other than having a bladder the size of a peanut I havent had any other effects from the whole "head down bum up" thing - not a peep from baby suggestign she might even be thinking about coming out...
might be different with twins though....?

Emma I can't remember how long Hannah was engaged before I went into labour and since I'm moving house in 3 weeks, all my notes are packed! Briona wasn't engaged until labour, she was posterior. Appparently this bub is engaged also but I am not letting myself consider the possibility that he/she may come early!! I know I would just get my hopes up! I think Quinn was engaged early on and he came on his due date (which i think was very considerate of him!!)

Yep, and they were just under 5lb each at the last scan a week and a half ago, so they are OK weights if they are born now. I just want to hold out till MOnday...

And I can't even imagine what it would be like if they could both engage - having one head down there is bad enough! lol.. only 1 can be engaged linelle cos otherwise she'd have 2 heads down in her pelvis.. which I'm sure would be extremely painful and more than a little squished.. engaged means head is down into the pelvis..theres only room for 1.. of course - the one that decides it's all go first.. will mean that the other will get it's eviction regardless..

Bailey wasnt engaged untill I was in labour! He decided he wanted out and he was in 3 1/2 hours!
The midwife made a few jokes about it yesterday 'well there'll be no - just wait untill they're a bit closer- saying' or 'here's hoping you make it to the hospital' or ' are you sure you don't want a home birth'

I was engaged two weeks before i went into labour. I think they do the engage this on a scale of 5.

Ok so maybe i am just silly but - how can only one be engaged?? Surely if one is engaged they are both ready to go?? Emma - Andrew didn't engage until labour either - from memory (which is jaded from being pregnant for sooooo long) he was posterior. Gigantababy is posterior too, so I'm hoping he is just staying up for a running start towards the finish line. As far as eviction orders go, he's being a typical male and not taking a hint - I've had two stretch and sweeps over the past week, am three or four cm dilated (since last week) and no matter how much I jump up and down, he's not moving anywhere. Janine - yeah she was, and the midwife said that probably is why she didn't engage. But my OB also told me that second and subsequent babies don't usually engage until labour so who knows....

the one thing you need to remember though is wasn't Maya posterior? if she was that could have been the reason she didn't engage properly intil during labour.

You sure your bubs aren't going to beat little miss stubborn out?

I have heard that babies *can* be engaged like that several weeks before anything happens. I hope you're not too uncomfortable though! Good luck!

OK, so I just saw the m/w and Sienna is D3, which apparently means that her head is right down ready to go. The m/w thinks that they will be born within the next 10 days or so, probably sooner rather than later.

But this engaged thing is all new to me. I just checked my notes from when I was preg with Maya and she was only D1 the day before I went into labour, so I guess she engaged during labour.
