I second 'The Tea Rose' and 'The Winter Rose' have read them both more than once and haven't put them down! One of the first books I own (thanks for the tip about the next one coming, whoever that was!!)..

I also really enjoy Kate Morton. As far as I know she has 3 books out, 'The Forgotten Garden', 'The Shifting Fog' and 'The Distant Hours' all 3 have links back and forth through history and I found them excellent to read.

Everyone I've recommened those authors to loved their books.

Just finished 'The Horse Whisperer', I've been meaning to read it for a while, and even though I am a horsey person, even if you aren't, it's a great read, I read it cover to cover!

I/m reading the book thief by Marcus Zusak set in WW2 centred around a little girl who is fostered out. The narrator is death which is interesting, he's so non chalant about taking people.

The lady in blue Javier sierra. Interesting read

I love I know this much is true, I read pillars of the earth and the second one. I'm such a bigger the book the better person haha. Only if its a good story.

I read Lee Childs Worth dying for graphic and violent but an easy read and quite enjoyable, I will read more of the Jack Reacher series just not one after the other same as I cant do it for Jodi Picoult.

Oh and the millenium series are good!

I don't remember most of the books I read my 2 SILs mum and I churn through them so quick

For fans of Maeve Binchy, i recommend Monica McInerney - lovely books, with more life than maeve's ones, I reckon. Her characters are more interesting and less predictable. I love Maeve but find that most of her books are fairly similar - and there is always an Aiden Dunn!! lol.

I'm really enjoying it, such a different book from what i've read before.. although i do tend to like a little bit off the beaten track books lol

tried "The long walk" by stephen king? A bit that way...
As was the hunger games series by Suzanne Collins

the first - a 'competition' where 100 boys walk... the last standing wins.. of course there are rules.. end of the day only 1 survives..

the second - children/teens put into a poll where they are picked up and placed against other districts in a fight to the end..

oh i love the Cross Stitch series! and the Into the Wilderness series too.

a series that my MIL got me into was by Juliet Marillier (a NZ born writer) - the Sevenwater series. The first book is Daughter of the Forest. Couldn't put them down! I haven't read her other books yet but MIL said they are good too. http://www.julietmarillier.com/

Jackdaws is a great Ken Follet book too.

I have just started reading Chris Ryan's books.  If anyone likes Lee Child's Jack Reacher novels and has run out of books to read then it is worth picking up a Chris Ryan.

I have loved the books I've read by Soheir Khashoggi.  She is from a Saudi Arabian family but living in New york and writes fictional books about women in arab countries.  Mosaic and Nadia's Song are both good books to start with.

I so love the true blood books. I'm loving all things vampire. Black dagger brotherhood books were great too. The fallen angel series also by j r ward are good.

Wow that you so much for your suggestions. There are plenty of authors that I am going to go and check out now.

Jamsta I Know This Much Is True is fantastic. I recently read The Hour I First Believed (also Wally Lamb) which I really enjoyed but not as much as I Know This Much Is True.

I hadn’t heard of the Cross Stitch series but since so many of you recommend it I think I’ll have to go for a nosey.

MrsMac if you enjoyed The Time Travelers Wife try Her Fearful Symmetry. I got it for Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed it.

KandK I loved Gentlemen and players too. I haven’t read any of her other books though

Some of the authors I love are Ben Elton, Jodi Picoult, and Marian Keys I have read all of therir books and although some are better than others I would definitely recommend them all.

I love all the irish writers, there is something about their sense of humour.

Try Jennifer Donnelly, She has 'The tea rose' and 'The winter rose' and the 3rd book in this series comes out this year. I've read both those books twice and I'm going to buy the new one as soon as it comes out.

I like Phillippa Gregory's writing, I loved 'The other Boelyn girl' an dthe next 2 books in that series, about Mary and Elizabeth, I'm about half way through the first one of that lot about Henry's first wife Catherine. It's a bit hard to get into though.

I've also read recently 'The borgia Bride' by Jeanne Kalogridis, Its set in Italy in th 1400. Its old but its a good read.

I tryed readin the twilight books. I just couldn't do it.

For those that like Jodi Picoult, possibly also try Kristin Hannah or Barbara Delinsky - ive enjoyed both authors.

Conn iggulden has done a series about Ghengis Khan which has been fascinating, and while not normally my style, ive really enjoyed it.

Yep I agree, didn't enjoy the books nearly as much as the TV series.

read the true blood books. by charlaine harris. theres 11 and they are easy to read and addictive.

the tv show has changed quite a few things from the books... personally i like the books better...

I'm really struggling with The Passage, it's the book I go too when I've got nothing else to read... I keep hoping it's going to get better

I have just finished Ken Follets "world without end", its about a medievil town in England and all its drama and intrigues. Its about 1000 pages, so it took me a good 10 days to read. It was awesome lots of plot twists and turns too.

I'm a bit of a modern literature girl myself, but yeah I do like Phillippa Georgory too, studied history so I always appreciate a good historical novel.

I've just finished a book called "my name is memory" by Ann Brashares, and found it really good. Its about a man who remembers all his previous lives but the women he loves doesn't so he has to keep trying to get her to fall in love with him again through the different centuries.

I'm reading the Cross Stitch series at the mo - my DH got me all 7 books for xmas - loving it!!!   I have to agree with the '5 people you meet in heaven' suggestion too - reread that before xmas.  One of my all-time favourite books is The Time Traveller's Wife - have read the book about 5 times!!!!  and IMO the book is much much better than the movie   

For cheap books check out www.bookdepository.co.uk - i think my 7 books for xmas cost DH less than $100 all up!

Stephen Kings "Under the Dome" would have to be the best book I've read by him. I have just finished Mercy by Jodi Picoult. I enjoyed it, was heavy topic but light read. I am getting quite fond of her so might have to try some more. I have The Sister Wife to read but have just started I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb. Gotta say I'm a huge fan of the Wilderness series/Sara Donati (her real name is Rosina Lippi, which she also writes under) and have all of them on my bookshelf as well as a couple of her more contempory fiction titles (Tied to the track & Pajama Girls of Lambert Square). I highly recommend these

Also loved the Cross Stitch series by Diana Gabaldon as well as her Lord John series which is an off-shoot of Cross Stitch.

Someone else mentions Tamar etc, by Deorah Challinor, which I haven't read, but I did really enjoy Kitty and it's sequel Amber by her.

As you can probably tell, I read a lot of historical fiction and another author of that genre I would add to the list is Philippa Gregory - awesome books about the house of Tudor/British monarchy... also wrote a damn good trilogy that starts with Wideacre (though be warned this may not be for everyone as it has a bit of incest in it )

And just to finish this novel of my own - gotta admit I got so hooked on the Twlight books I read all four of them in just under two weeks!

Princess Bubs I agree- I think Stephanie Meyer is actually quite a good writer. I hate the hype of twilight and didnt like the movies but quite enjoyed the books.
She wrote another book (not part of a series) called The Host which I highly recommend.

I have just finished 'Life on Air' which is David Attenborough's autobiography and have never enjoyed a biography so much! He's entertaining, informative and its a surprisingly easy read.

If you want a fun and easy read - I can recommend anything by Emily Giffin (Lots of her books have baby themes! ) also, Sophie Kinsella books. Very light and entertaining!

"My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult is a great read - Have a box of tissues ready though!

I highly recommend "The five people you meet in Heaven" by Mitch Albom. It's quite a short book but very thought provoking and feel good.

This is a little embarrassing but after many people trying to convince me, I have read the first two Twilight books! (I am not into Vampires AT ALL!) but they are so well written and you become so immersed in them. Sara Donati's Wilderness series are historical novels, but not as heavy as the Diana Gabaldon ones if you're struggling with that. I don't know the titles you've mentioned, so I'm not sure what you're gunning for    

For something completely different - I read Save Karyn quite regularly. It's written by a shopaholic who moves to NY and gets herself well in the crap, and appeals to the online community to dig her out of it. Quite a good read ... and I always go on a bit of a fright-induced shopping halt after reading it

Oh SMS I read the Cross Stitch series about once every 2 years! Call me crazy but I just love them! Still need to read the latest though so hopefully can get through that before this baby arrives.

A few years back I read the Tamar trilogy (Tamar, White Feathers and Blue Smoke) by Deborah Challinor. They are NZ historical fiction and I really enjoyed them. Easy reading and not too big.

I was thinking of starting a post aswel about books.

Im finding it so hard to get a good book at the moment

Ive finally put Cross Stitch on hold from my library. Ive never read it but people keep saying its good Hopefully i get it soon and like it.
