Chevron's good, as are any of the Breakfree properties. If you get a two-bedroom apartment you'll have a queen in one room and two singles in the other, plus full kitchen and laundry facilities in your apartment.

I've already suggested this to you - Chevron Renaissance.. you walk out the front door and across the road and all of the buses for all of the theme parks stop there.. it's in Surfers itself and its great for families. They have a babysitting service too which is great, that way you and DH can go to Draculas

Treasure Island Holiday park
they have alot of different cabin styles and the cheaper ones still have full kitchens (no bunks in the slightly more expensive ones)

SouthPort Tourist park they have a few different units and most have kitchens and no bunks in the slightly dearer ones

We stayed at an apartment when I went on a girls trip last year, it was awesome so so so cheap and soooo nice, perfect location too right in the heart of the Gold Coast but it wasn't noisy either - it was perfect.

It's called Towers of Chevron or Towers Of Chevron Renaissance, but get it through Sunmore holidays because they are the cheapest and give great deals, have them up for a free night if you're staying a few etc and they will.

Santorini is good but a bit further down than Broadbeach. Generally get good prices.   For this property, check direct but also get a price through House of Travel as they can have exclusive deals. Pool is not suitable for kids though as it is deep.

Stayed at Turtle Beach which can also have good prices.

I love going to the Diamond Beach in Broadbeach, great family property.

I would say there are lots of great properties there though and most are near public transport.

We always stay in broadbeach as i find it closer and easier to get to things. Its also not as busy as Surfers and usually a wee bit cheaper

This is where we usually stay and its a 5 min walk to the supermarket, buses and beach. Prices have gone up thou.URL=http://www.phoenician.com.au/]Phoenician[/URL].

Because we went at Easter last year and the prices were hideous we ended up staying at another place. It was great but older style. Still had a pool etc and again 5 min walk to everything. Just slightly older exterior. The interior was fine and had 2 single beds.I can't remember the name of it and can't get in touch with DH so will update later.

Hi all

We're off to the Gold Coast for a holiday at the end of this month and I'm looking for somewhere for us to stay and feeling overwhelmed by the options.

We're looking for:

  • something self-contained with kitchen and laundry facilities
  • close to public transport (as we're not hiring a car) and supermarket
  • catering to kids
  • no bunk beds (a lot of the places that cater especially for families seem to have bunk beds which is just asking for trouble with my son - he already has a broken arm from climbing things)

Where have you stayed and what can you recommend?
