I know this post is late but if anyone else is thinking of referring to FA Hamilton, I suggest you think otherwise. The service provided to me has been appalling. I have had a fertility plan run in Wellington and, despite the inconvenience I would suggest you take the extra journey out of the Waikato for your own. I was doing a donor cycle and am based in Australia. On my final replacement the clinic did not even bother calling for the results?? I was so devastated by the negative result that I couldn't even call my own mother. They are clinically negligent for not obtaining these results and instructing me to come off my medication thereafter. The clinic has written me off as sour grapes for the negative result and are not apologetic in any sense for their negligence. There has been a myriad of lack or information, mixed messages throughout the 18 months I have been dealing with them. We have had the complete opposite with FA hamilton and reading all this confuses me even more. We went through a privately funded cycle over six months ago, and felt a lot like we were just passed from one nurse to another and from one doc to another. No one ever really explained anything to us, and after 'apparently' having smooth sailing right up until fertlisation.. and having 6 healthy and suitable embryos.. not one of them fertilised.

We obviously were devastated, so we declined the initial feedback appointment at the time (it didn't mean we didn't want to hear back from them what went wrong?). it's now been over six months and we have heard nothing. Called to book an appointment and reception ended up sending us initial forms and asked for more bloods... why when our next round is only scheduled for 6 months away.

We feel like we've just been given the bog standard reply, and no one really cares about us or our unique case (DH has congenital absence of vas def). Even our GP hadn't been informed of any of what had happened and was not even told that we were doing a privately funded round. She needless to say was furious. We are completely shattered and have lost almost all faith in FA by now.. so are also exploring adoptions etc. We can't afford another private round - so are really hoping that they are better with public rounds.

Sorry about the full explanations - not sure of all the abbreviations as a total newbie to all this.

If you are publicly funded that means completely funded which helps. I have been going to see VP for a bit over a year i think. We had Dr Singh and he was really great. He pushed through everything really quickly to. At the time we went there was waiting lists of a year, but he told admin and nurses we were to start straight away. Our Dr was Dr Lakshmi Ravikanti, and she was totally great, I'd recommend her without a second thought. She was really proactive dealing with my fertility issues, and incredibly helpful dealing with my insurance company when I needed a lap operation for endo. As I also have PCOS, she drilled my ovaries while she was in there.

I've heard Dr Singh is really good too.

The only thing I found with the practise was that sometimes the nurses were a bit hard to deal with. I also saw VP Singh and he was wonderful! We ended up using him privately for an op as well as him being our Doc through FA and he was just amazing. Hi,

I've dealt with VP singh (for endo reasons) and he is a lovely man and his colleague Lakshmi is great also, very up to date with new research I believe! I was in hospital for endo and had to have an urgent op and VP Singh came in on his day off!!! So, he cares very much about his patients! I'm having my first fertility treatment next week!! 3 years of trying and health issues thrown in along the way!!!

I have rung and made an appointment, they offered 8 Feb but need to have day2/day 21 bloods and the timing doesn't work so booked for 8 Mar not too bad - 7 weeks today!!
Still hoping this cycle might be our time and not need it
Once the tests are all done they may move it forward. And stoked as my first appointment is publicly funded due to my PCOS.

Hi Monkeys,
We were referred by our doctor in the december and were seen in February 2010 for our initial appt, because we had a bit of background knowledge about our issue we were put on the ivf waiting list from that day and in between everything moved quite quickly for the analysis etc. its just the wait for treatment, their list was at 18 months but we will be starting our first publicly funded cycle in march so that was a 13 months wait (though we did private in the meantime)

Hi monkeys, we were referred by our GP...I'm pretty sure it was around October 2009, and our appointment was the 20th January 2010.I know they have a cancellations list for appointments too, which we put our names on but never got in any earlier....
