We've got the peanut and use it for her to sleep in overnight when away and sometimes during the day.

We had Emily in our room for the first 2 weeks and moved her into her own room as she was too noisy and I would be on auto pilot and jump up whenever she made a noise!

My MW pointed out on her first visit that baby could sleep in a cardboard box or drawer and would be perfectly happy so she didn't see anything wrong with the pram bassinet...

I say trust your instinct - if you feel it would be too small or hot in the summer weather then don't use it, but as a temporary measure (until you feel ready for baby to go into the cot etc), I think you'd be ok - as long as you feel ok with it. I personally didn't know that you could use it like that, I fugured it was for the pram only and when ever the MW, Plunket, etc talked to us they always told us bassinette or cot. My mw even came to check what we had for baby.

Have heard that you need to be careful with using bassinets from pushchairs (other than for their intended use) due to the ventilation IYKNIW. Baskets and the traditional bassinets allow air to flow around the baby better but the pushchair ones have more solid bases and sides. We ended up using our peanut for about 2 months as we had a hammock but DS HATED it.

We had a vintage bassinet, the peanut we only used when out and about for about the first 2 months and then it seemed so small.

I'm the same as Red, baby was in her own room right from the start, never used a bassinette, just a cot. I actually used the change mat padded thingie during the day as a mattress and had it on the couch in the lounge so she got used to all sorts of noises while sleeping.

The Peanut is quite narrow, don't think I would have wanted to use it full time as a bassinett as mattress isn't that great - bubs only slept in it when out and about.

We had bubs in her own room, but it is right next door. We have a different make of buggy, but do have a similar carrycot attachment thing, and that's what DD slept in for the first 3 months(ish) - nothing wraong with it in my eyes It also meant rocking her to sleep was way easier than it could have been! Plus, totally portable so at night she'd be in our room, and during the day out in the lounge.
