On the fire works thing you could start walking back to your car a little early so that you are further away from the fireworks when they go off and also then you wont get caught up in the hussle and bussle of everyone leaving at once.
We also showed DS some vidoes of youtube of fireworks so that he got a little bit of an understanding before he first saw them. It can be very scary to little ones as from my observations the noise is off putting but also it would appear that they can't judge that it is far away and they seem to appear scared its going to full on them.

Thanks everyone, im quite excited about it, hopefully Tyler will like it! YIp we've taken our son each year. The first year he just crawled around then sat in his buggy. Second year he was walking which was a little trickier but he still really loved it. Planning on going this year too.
One thing I suggest is writting your sons name on his arm so if he does happen to escape your eye the lost tent has a name to place up on the screen.

Yep, we have taken our kids (and will do this year too) quite young. It can be noisy (especially at fireworks time). Trick is to either sit quite a way back or in the middle (not right in front of the speakers). They have big screens so you don't miss anything sitting far back.
If you find it's too noisy and bub doesn't cope you can always leave or move somewhere else.

Im sure I took C around the same age,actually Im sure I took her younger cos she was 6months at her first christmas then 18months at the next
....I used to go every year, first with family, then with friends (getting drunk off smirnoff in a water bottle behind the museum , yyyeeeah yah , height of coolness ) then with family again.

Has anyone been? Is it fun? I'm kinda keen to take Tyler (13 months) to the one in Auckland this weekend but will he be too young? Is it really really loud?
