A lot of articles suggest that while gluten intolerance is present from birth, it takes a while to build up in the body and get symptoms. But stress and/or pregnancy (and a couple of others I don't remember off the top of my head) can be triggers. So it's possible that you are.

As far as technicalities go, you may be allergic to wheat OR intolerant to gluten (very rarely both). There isn't too much difference between allergy and intolerance but they will likely run blood tests on you to look for antibodies to help with diagnosis. I suspect this will be out of your midwife's league but I'd start there anyway.

These foods have been on the 'no' list for ages and I have just accepted it as part of being pregnant.

However, in the past couple of weeks I have been unable to stomach breads, pasta or biscuits (wheat intolerance?). Since this only recently occurring (am 31 weeks) could it be more than just a side effect of the pregnancy? Am now worried this is indicative of baby having food intolerance, even though this doesn't run in our families or even just a fussy eater.

Has anyone found that something their body rejected while pregnant turned out to also be rejected by baby?
