I put baby vicks on her chest and back but since hes still little maybe on his feet. And I also put a bowl of steaming hot water with some karvol or vicks in it underneath her bed.

Or the other one I have heard and tried was if you have a slow cooker put some water and vicks in that, put in babys room with the lid slightly off and let steam away for the night. For the toy- first wash it in white vinegar- that'll kill the mould, then soak it in washing soda crystals dissolved in warm water with a bit of lemon juice- put it in a tray or basin & leave it in the sunshine (in the water mix still)- it's what I do to baby clothes that have been in storage, & on the bassinet covers etc when they got mouldy being in the garage. If (and only if!) all else fails with the toy, try soaking it in diluted bleach for a short time (an hour or so). That really zaps mould and mildew, and often doesn't affect the colouring of the thing you're zapping. Someone taught me it when I had some towels go mouldy (went swimming and forgot they were in the car!) and it really worked. I've done it on a few things since with excellent results.

I would do it as a last resort, though, just in case it did affect the colour.

We put a bowl of hot water with vicks in it under his cot and it vapourises really well.

Can you pop the toy in the washing machine? We do this with pretty much all of DS's toys and they come out fine, the squeakers and crinkly bits still squeak and crinkle

As for the blocked nose, saline drops and an aspirator work really well, as does a vaproiser if you have one, I borrowed my IL's and still haven't returned it, it's awesome! I've used vicks, a little on the soles of DS's feet and/or a little on a tissue down the front of his pj top at night.

Hi There

1) I have a lamaze toy that has a tiny little bit of mould on it, keept it away for too long What i want to know is, can i somehow wash it and it be safe for DS still and if so how do i ? Or do i bin it ?

2) DS has a cold atm and his nose isnt too blocked up atm but im wanting to know how to relieve it when it does/if it does. What are your thoughts on baby vicks or Karvol ? He moves around his cot so i cant have anything in there with him that he can grab or suck with it on ?
