Jazzy he is there for help with his maths, he is in year 5 next year and will be in the senior school and it is going to be alot harder, he just needed the extra help to get him up to speed.  The kids in his group really seem to love it, this is his second term there.  Any other questions feel free to ask!!

My son goes to Numberworks, it is $450 for the term which works out to $45 per lesson (an hour).  He LOVES it and even asked to go twice a week lol!!  I think you can get a trial lesson for free?  Might pay to ring and check but I would recommend it

I would definitely try the one on one with a student. Thanks ladies. Will rethink those places now.

I am going to wait till I get his report as he has caught up heaps & he was not far behind his age last time. I am going to have a look at some study guides & set out a "fun" program in the xmas holiday.

Will see how he is going next yr & may get a 1 on 1 tutor. Will check out Auckland University, great idea.

I think one of the main problems is he does not like school work much so does not apply himself at home & hates to fail. I haven't had experience of either place but as a primary school teacher I would reccomend a one on one tutor as well rather than a class situation.

You could pay a teaching student about $15 to $20 an hour so it would be cheaper. You could contact Massey or Auckland University and they could send out an email to their students to see if anyone could help. I did tutoring like that when I was studying.

Just an idea or there are websites where people list themselves as tutors if you google.

I would go to private tutoring too - see if you can get someone during tcol training. - or ask the school if they do any private tutoring

I teach a year 12 boy who also goes to Kip McGrath. I went through Kip McGrath when I was struggling with maths at high school.
I found it didn't help me at all. I still didn't 'get it'. And the biggest problem was that there were about 5 in the 'class' so it wasn't one on one. I was too shy to ask for help too I remember pretending that I knew what the guy was talking about and ended up failing!!

I would probably look for one on one tutoring if it was me. Next yr we are looking at getting extra help for DS1 as it is his last yr in primary so want him up to speed for intermediate.

Kip McGrath is $42 for 80mins

NumberWorks'nWords is $45 not sure how long it is for.

Has anyone had anything to do with either or heard anything bout them?
