I just have a fitted mattress protector with a fitted sheet, both seem to hold ok. peachy- we got a new mattress about 4years ago (didnt spend as much as you though!) and had the same problem but with the animals. im also kicking myself about it!

Briscoes have 50% off sales every other weekend. We bought a good mattress protector for half price - about $50 for super king.

Personally I would spend the money on a mattress protector. We bought a new bed 5 years ago and it was VERY expensive at nearly $6k and I am kicking myself now that I haven't protected the mattress especially after having a baby and flooding the bed one night

Shop around as I have seen them alot cheaper than that!

So we are getting a new mattress soon and i want to look after it. Im a bad sleeper so i dont want something that comes off easy!
