I've lost basically all my hearing in my left ear, and the upshot is because I don't know any different it really doesn't affect me at all. The only times I even notice it are if I am on the phone and someone else tries to talk to me or when I'm driving and the passenger is talking quietly.

So I can't help you with your anxiety for now but can say that if Drew does have some hearing loss, chances are it really won't affect him too badly at all.
