Nelson to Wellington doesn't get to a too high altitude so you should be ok. I have flown that route a few times and never had trouble like I do with longer flights.

As Monikah said, a taxi would cost a fortune, but the Valley flyer is quick and regular. Can you find out from whoever referred you about accomodation and transport? I forget the name of the motel just down from the hospital, something gables, maybe Green Gables? dont know bout the cost type stuff but i know for flying you can get eucalyptis(sp) sachets which they give you on the plane to help with littlies ears deal with take of and landing. DD and I are off to wellington in the next week to see a specialist. I can't BF sitting up, so will have to let her drink out of my drink bottle on takeoff and landing, but no guarantees.... Do you recommend giving them pamol? Just to help?

And.... We are going up to see a specailist through the public health system, we will need to stay up there, does anyone know if they pay for the accommodation? And transport to and from the airport??- its at Hutt hospital.
