A good friend of mine lived in one for years and wanted to sell it to move to a unit. She had sooo many problems selling it because of the bad rap those houses have - EVEN THOUGH she had a full builders/moisture report to say the house was absolutely fine.

I bought one a few months ago, just make sure you get all the relevant reports done by a reputable company and go with the report. I wouldn't go near one - just not worth the risk and the stigma of them means reselling will be a PITA and you'll probably lose money on it. I'm sure I read somewhere that 80% of them have or will develop a moisture problem (will try and dig out the article link).

Get the report and go from there, $500 is cheap compared to the cost of fixing if it does have problems.
I found when house hunting as much as you may love a place, you have to be practical and be prepared to walk away if its not as it appears to be.

Personally I'm not a fan of monolithic cladding heard too many horror stories from builder mates.

We're looking to purchase a house built in leaky home era with monolithic cladding.

The bank wants us to get thermal moisture and builders reports which will cost around $500. Because we love the house, we're going ahead with the reports but DH is freaking out and he's got this idea that all monolithic homes are leaky.
