Well at least it isn't lost completely. Hopefully they can put a wee stitch in there to keep it down. Does it swell up? My son had the hydrocele which meant in the morning my sons was small and the regular size. In the evening it was huge and painful looking. He looked very lopsided. That was from the fluid flowing thru the gap. At night it would drain back. Luckily we didn't have the testicle squeezing back up the gap as I can imagine how much that must hurt. Well it was sitting in the right place today at the scan. Not sure what is going on there now. She did a long scan and took lots of photos for our dr. Will have to wait for our gp to get hold of us to see why it is moving. When it moves up it hurts Andrew and I don't want him to be in pain after playing sport.

I iwll let you know how it goes. He has pain there so I think surgery is going to be needed it is a matter of when. If it is twisted (which our gp thinks is the case) then it will be a operation, if public can do it faster than private then we will otherwise it will be a private op (means I get to stay overnight with him in the hotel!!!  ) as soon as we can get him seen.

My brother discovered that one of his never dropped when he was a 40 year old man going for a vasectomy. It's beyond me how you could get to that age and have not noticed but anyhoo. They operated to remove it completely as there was a risk that it could become cancerous (not sure how that works). Obviously he had no further use for it at that stage. My dh has a testicle that goes up and down, I think it was worse as a kid but there's the (very odd) occasion that it willmove up now and he's 32.

Mil mentioned once a few years back that he might have trouble when we started ttc, but so far we've got lucky twice ;)

I think when he was a kid they just left it alone and told him not to play with himself!

I dont know anything about how it is resolved in kids but DH had an undescended testicle (maybe it went missing when he was a child he doesnt really know, typical guy) and when we got life insurance medicals it was seen as a minor issue and he went on the waiting list for surgery and 9 months later had in removed...more as a precaution than anything else...It never caused him issues growing up and didnt stop him getting me UTD!!!!

Thanks all, with Andrew being older I think it will be a little harder on him.

Will see what the scan shows on Monday. At the moment running makes it very sore as does walking.

My friends son just had surgery for this the other day and he is only 8 months old. He was in and out in a day and it barely affected him.

Might be a bit harder for Andrew since he is older and understands more though.

One of my nephew's testicles never dropped. 

Chickaboo, I think you're right, they said my nephew had a hernia.  Poor baby would scream whenever he was lying on his back.  Car trips were hellish.

I'm a bit vague on the details now because it was 8 years ago but just before his 1st birthday they did an operation which I understand is quite a simple procedure and he was right as rain after that.  He has a small scar on his buttock

This happened to a friend of ours and my understanding is how kiwi2 has described. With my friends little boy they just made a small 2 cm incision. She explained it like this which makes sense as my son had the hydrocele so some of it sounds familiar to me.

When little boys are under 2 there testies can travel between the abdomen and the sack thing. Around two they usually stay down and the opening closes so they can't travel. In some cases it doesn't which means fluid builds up down there and you get a hydrocele like my son. In others it closes with the testie up and you get your sons scenario. They made a small incision in the lining and encourage testie down and then stitch it up so it can't travel up again.

I am no doctor this is just how she explained it over a cup of tea. Hope that helps. Her son was running around like a hooligan the day after. They only kept him in as he was bumped to later in the day. I think they were thinking of sending him home in the same day even.

It is never nice for your kids to have surgery no matter how big or minor it is. Has anyones boy had this problem? If so how was it fixed.

Andrew went to the dr today as he has been complaining or a sore penis and the dr couldn't find his right testicle. He thinks it has gone right up into his body and he is having a scan on Monday to see where it is and what they next step is.
