My midwife recommends 2 x 1000mg orally in the morning and 4 x 1000mg internally at night.
I don't prick them either, the shells tend to dissolve pretty quickly. It is messy though - definitely need to wear a pad to bed.

My mw said 1000mg internally from 36 weeks then 2000mg from 38 weeks OR 2000mg orally from 36 weeks then 4000mg from 38 weeks...
