Interesting question. my parents, sister and I live in Perth but are nz citizens.
When my parents or I go back and need health care it is at the normal nz price and subsidised prescriptions are too.
However when my sister went over a couple of years ago and saw a different dr she paid full price and also had to pay $200 for her drugs (30 days of anti depressants and a small tube of excema cream, she left the excema cream!).

Yip I came back and had jasmine here and tried to pay for it and no one would take my money. I thought it a bit rude to come back to specifically have a baby due to the health system where I was living not being adequate and not pay. Does H have a nz passport? Or just a UK one. Yes, a child in the care and control of a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident is eligible, provided the eligible parent can prove eligibility through his passport.

I think if you haven't given up your Citizenship then you are OK as far as being eligible for health care etc.

The thing you may find is that they now fund by registration at PHOs, so if you want to see a local GP then you may have to pay a bit more? I am wondering if there was anyone in OB land who knows the situation with general healthcare (Drs visits etc) for NZers who are citizens but not residents?

We havent lived in NZ for a number of years / not paid taxes etc but are coming home for a 3 mth holiday at the end of this year and was wondering if DS or I need to see the GP will it just be the normal costs or more? Also hoping to be pregnant then too so would want a check up or two during that time and maybe a scan.
