You use a ball point because it's a knit fabric and a regular needle will punch through the fibres thereby breaking them and weakening the fabric and creating holes. I made a bodysuit out of merino for my bubs, just traced around another one for the pattern lol. I also did a wrap, folded edge twice and straight sew close to the edge.

I made a pair of comfy pants for my boy and they were brilliant during autumn - kinda like PJ pants

I also made a tunic dress from a New Look pattern #6578 which is super easy and super cute. I didn't do the hearts and things though, just left it plain.

I have just finished making a big wrap for DS. I just folded a cm band over twice (so you don't see the raw edge) and sewed using straight stitch all the way around.

I hope that makes sense?

Sounds lovely

A wrap sounds good - you want it to be at least 1mx1m and single thickness would be fine. Like Kels said, you can just overlock the edges. If you want to get fancy, you can make an edging and sew it on (like they do on the ready-made blankets).

To do this, you need to:
a) cut edging for each side - 4 strips, each about 4-5 cm wide.
b) attach the edging to the main piece, right sides together
c) overlock/zigzag them together
d) fold the edging up and over. Using straight stitch, attach it on the back side to cover the zig zag stitch.

Hi ladies, i have a piece of rose pink merino its 1m double thinkness or 2m single...anyone have any tips for a new sewer for making something neat for bubs out of it like a swaddle wrap or something??

needs to be simple ish though im good at folowing direction and can sew a good straight line lol

Patterns would also be welcome
