I lurked for ages before I got up the courage to join in - and now I'm super glad I did, I have some wonderful friends on OB!! I agree with what LR & freckle have said about usernames & pics, if you don't put too many personal details online I figure you can stay pretty anonymous . I think that although stalking sucks, you do have to be aware that this is a public forum and think about what you do and don't post. Personally I wouldn't have joined if I hadn't been able to lurk for a bit first, in order to realise that this was a community I did want to be part of.

We have a private FB group for November 2010 due date too - that's probably an easier alternative than changing the privacy settings on OB.

For me personally I don't tend to lurk in other due date threads anyways, can always find the people I'm stalking on other threads.

people would still be able to read the "open" forums but the private boards would be seperate. ie if someone who wasnt given the password clicked on the link it would ask them for a password.

It has come up before, but I doubt it will ever happen. If the forums were suddenly locked down and no longer indexed on Google, then these forums wouldn't get as much traffic. At the moment when mums search for topics they can find the forums if we have talked about it here..

Yes, there is a members only fb group, with only verified members able to access it..

Yep it sounds like a great idea. I hate everyone reading up on me lol, but i also keep posting on here even though people read up on me

I have started using Oh Baby alot more lately because im bored, dp is always busy & i can get answers from these ladies about all sorts of things. I have received great info & advice.

I love this idea but I'm pretty sure it's been raised numerous times and it hasn't happened yet.
I'll be thrilled if it does happen. I can finally talk in "my" place without being watched by the apparent numerous stalkers I have.

Being a single Mum I get quite isolated at the moment and I use the forum to talk to other grown ups. Thats pretty much been taken away frome me though with stalkers.

bit of a strange request

but is it possible to set up private boards for each due/born in group.

another forum I go on each born in/due in group has their own private boards. these are used to discuss things you dont want "outsiders reading" but not to talk about other members its more for the "I dont want my father to read that" kind of thing.

they do have a few rules such as you must have over x number of posts and you must be a regular poster even posting once every few weeks..so if you only post once every 6 months you dont get the password..if you havent posted in x number of weeks you get your "private board privelidges" revoked which can be reinstated once you have started postimg again on a regular basis
