Weird, I thought I would miss drinking when I was pregnant..not that I drink lots but used to love a beer on a hot day....but I didn't have a single drink and didn't even care! And then I thought I would be hanging out for a baileys after DS was born but I had a small one and it made me feel very silly so that was the end of that lol! hehe i also did some research and although theres no SAFE amount they "say" its ok to have one standard drink a week AFTER your first trimester....

i thought i was the only one who sniffs DH beer or wine etc? hehe. Glad that i am not the only one. On the weekend i bought the macs light and had one and it was quite nice. Cant believe that i have been having bad cravings.....what does it mean???/

What about a white wine spritzer? I think they are gross but you might like?? I do like a shandy but tend to think of it as a summer thing personally.

I second having appletize or sparkling grape juice in a flute, seems to make it feel more special

I know there is no safe level of alcohol to consume during pregnancy but after your first trimester a small drink every now and again might be an option? Here in the UK a friend has been told by her GP that one standard drink per week is absolutely fine and she is taking him up on it and she isnt even 12weeks yet. I've craved beer with both my pregnancies. When I REALLY want one I have a weak shandy. First one this time round was last Fri night when were out for curry with friends. Yum......

I use to make myself "mocktails" soda water, cranberry juice, pineapple juice and a splash of lime then stick an umbrella and a lemon slice on the side of the glass OR a virgin pinacolada or mojito. BAMN08, there is a non alcoholic wine you can get, can't remember the name but someone has mentioned it earlier on in this thread...
I didn't drink any alcohol in the 1st trimester but after that I had the odd light beer or similar!
I liked those Macs Light beers, the 1% ones, or on the couple special occasions I went to while I was pregnant I mixed a splash of bubbles with either soda or grape juice in a champagne glass... When I was pregnant with Joshua I used to crave the smell of my ex's bourbon. I had a very weak shandy (as in a tablespoon of beer) when I was craving it bad!

I went out to a really fancy dinner where everyone at the table was drinking gorgeous and expensive wine....I hated it (we are quite "into" wine...so was torture!) I ended up having a white wine spritzer and sitting on it all night...I think DH finished it in the end anyway...

Haha, I thought I was a freak for sneaking sniffs of DH's beer. I definitely got a few weird looks at quiz night last week. I LOVE the smell of it at the moment, and its SOO hard not to have a taste. I'm sure one sneaky sip wouldn't harm, but I don't think I'd be able to stop lol. Ohh I remember it well. Tui blonde came out while I was pg and I had SUCH cravings for it... I had to settle for sniffing the bottle when DP opened one for himself.

It doesn't sound like it would work but sniff a (freshly opened and full) bottle for a few minutes and you might find the craving is satisfied for a while.

The winery my husband works for has just started making juice which is absolutely gorgeous, it's the same juice they use to make their super popular muscat . If you can find any I'd totally recommend it - I love it! It's kinda expensive, but is a pretty good wine substitute!

Beer though, I used to get the non alcoholic beer - imported from Germany I think - and it tasted just like the real deal. My mother cant drink and has the non alchoholic wine. Someone told me about non-alcoholic Clausthaler beer when I was pregnant and I had it as a beer shandy at new years. It's classed as a non-alcoholic beer, the alcohol is taken out of it when it's been brewed and it's got less than .5% or something like that. I got it from Countdown for around $9 for a pack of four.

ETA it looks like I've written 'less than 5% alcohol but it's less than POINT FIVE % - just in case anyone thinks I'm a bit nuts

You can get alcohol removed wine...I think it is called edenvale. It's apparently quite nice.
