I have been pretty slack online lately havent been on 4 ages.

Yes I did start/finish my antenatal classes they were really good but rather uncomfy sitting all day. We have a meet up planned for mid jan so hopefully we will make it.

I am doing great, only 8 days of work left, yay, cant wait for a break!

Hi Twinnybump - congratulations on your two wee babies. Hope everything is going really well for you!

I'm at a great stage now. Can feel baby definitely moving about in there and can see tummy moving when baby moves. Scan results were all good. Quite tired and hayfever bad so had day off work to rest.

Hi ladies

Quick post from me, our wee babies decided they wanted to come early and arrived at 30w 2d. They are doing soooooooo well, but they are still in the NICU and Im hoping we can go home in about 3 weeks. Getting over living in a motel, haven't been home since they were born. Missed my babyshower and wasn't quite ready at home but ah well. Harrison & Isabella are soooooooo cute and Im so proud of their progress, they've even surprised their nurses

Missmel- Yep we have a lil surprise baby, I am a lil shocked sometimes at how rare it is but oh well. Haha and good on you for craving healthy stuff hmmm i seemed to have passed that stage and had a cry last night coz I wanted chocfudge icecream or choc mousse, gezzz it doesnt take much for the tears to come.

Happygal- At times I get pretty worried about how lil time we have left, we are sooooo not ready and have a very very long list of thing to do b4 bubs arrives ekkk. But otherwise Im doing alright, strting to get a lil bit of sore ribs every now and then.

We have antenatal classes booked in for the 3rd and 10th dec as well. Nope no vomitting,I was pretty lucky I only had 3 small vomits early in the first 12wks when brushing my teeth coz of the lovely gag reflex. Hmmmm not 2 sure y Im losing weight but no one seems worried bubs is doing fine plus now the space between my thighs looks a lil better hehehe.

Jem - are you still vomiting? Is that why you are losing weight?

Happygal - glad to hear bubs is measuring well :)

AFM - Had 20 week scan and baby looked all good. We decided to go for a surprise so now have 20 weeks to wait for it! Feeling much better now. Think I'm feeling a bit of movement in there, still getting used to identifying it. Bump is growing a bit too which makes it seem more real.

Getting some random leg cramps in the night and still have the weird taste at some stage every day. Lol Im the same Happygal my back is so uncomfy more so after a trip to auckland and then a trip to palmy north the weekend after. But otherwise Im doing well, bubs is measuring all good. Lol mum says that I do everything backwards since being prego I am now down by 6-7kgs and instead of wearing my wedding rings on a necklace due o fat fingers Im wearing them on a necklace coz they keep falling off!! and after some time on my hands and knees crying looking for them I decided I just cant wear them anymore

Just having a lurk The size you were doesn't have alot to do with how big your babies will be chick. I was 8"something and both my boys dads were smaller than that yet both boys were over 9" and this baby is already measuring ahead.
As for clothes layers are brilliant and aren't weather dependent IYKWIM. I always use cotton bodysuits, merino tops (1-3 depending on temp), merino pants and hats, and woolen jerseys if required. You don't need a huge amount of clothes either - they really don't go through much unless they have a poosplosion I have 3 NB outfits I think though TBH my boys have been too big for them both times, and mostly have 3-6mo gear for the beginning HTH?

If you have a problem logging in then log right in, come into the forums, clear your cookies and close down your browser completely then open it up again, come back to OB and it should pop up with the 'you haven't been here before have you' poster. Not all that sure on clothes, I haven't brought any clothes yet been given ALOT in many diff sizes from evryone.

Scan went really well! Was amazing to see it moving, swimming and wriggling about! Going to see midwife tomorrow to have a chat. Have a few questions and have almost run out of medication for morning sickness (which is still going strong :( ).

Ah MissMel you poor thing! Good to hear your feeling a bit better tho. Tickers are pretty easy… go to say Lilypie.com and go through the steps to create your ticker.
In OB go to – Profile - Signature
Type [IMG]the the URL code from Lilypie and then the img code that you typed at the start but with a / in from of the I. Sorry can't type it in hear or it won't show!
Then click update profile and it should work

Yip Happygal we've brought loads, getting their room set up slowly. Even got the cots up, it so crazy having a room set up for them. I still go in there in amazement that Im actually pregnant! We've got heaps of little things to buy but we're looking at prams at the mo and think we've settled on one. Also got to buy a couple of Angelcare units so thats the expensive stuff out the way. So exciting buying baby stuff aye?

Well done you on not finding out Jem... a surprise will be lovely! I couldn't not find out, way to impatient lol!

I still can't get over how quick this pregnancy is going... its crazy aye?

Missmel- Glad your eyelids are all back to normal, shouldn't be too long now until your MS waves goodbye. I am a lil shocked at how fast 20 weeks have gone really. Jem, eyelids back to normal now. Have only been getting sick about one day per week and tends to be towards end of the week when I get tired. I am a teacher so I just have to soldier on with work most of the time! 20 weeks and half way, has time gone fast?

Happygal, shopping for baby stuff is exciting. When did you start? I feel like I might want to start buying but should probably wait til my scan this Friday. It's 12 weeks for us on Wednesday.

KH - Congrats!! Can't wait til I'm 14 weeks, maybe then the MS will go and I'll be able to start a better diet. Still on toast and biscuits with odd bit of fruit in between.

Woohoo KH25 congrats, that is just awesome news!! You will be a busy mummy soon!! lol.. Funny though, met my friend for lunch last week and she told me she is pregnant again with her third!! She is 11 weeks, so really happy as she lives up the road from us, so nice ot have a local preggy buddy!!

Thanks guys, it was a huge shock and TBH we are still trying to adjust to the thought of having another, let alone 2 so close together lol. But it's all good and hopefully I can maybe experience a relatively normal pg for once? Although after my appt with the ob today who said she wants to see me and have me scanned every 2 weeks, I don't think so somehow

Glad to hear everyone is trucking along nicely. Missmel sorry to hear you are having hideous MS, I really hope it clears up for you soon. Oh wow congrats KH25!!!!

I have only just started to feel a lil bit prego in the last week, started to feel the odd lil kick and wriggle. And I noticed the other day that I am now walking like a prego full time, not sure when that started but i used to only walk like that at night when I was real tired in every way. Still haven't grown around my waist at all yet but my tum is getting pretty firm. HOw are things with you? I'm struggling with the MS still. On medication even though I thought I'd never go there. Wasn't myself so had to. Ended up with broken capillaries over my eyelids from pressure of vomiting. Looked like a mess, but clearing up now :) Just keep reminding myself it most probably means a healthy baby in there. 11 weeks for me tomorrow! Not long til I can tell everyone!!!

Yes I did sort a midwife. have met with her once and am happy with her so far :)

Went to dr and am on medication for vomiting. Feeling a lot better, although still times when I get sick and I feel sick often - but not to the same degree as before.

How are you getting on?

Hey thanks for the advice ladies

MW wrote that she'd continue to provide care for me if I had to go to hospital, unless I required epidural or augmentation. Pro natural which is fine, I just don't know much so it's all a bit hard.

I just can't say that I won't have an epidural as I have no idea what giving birth is like. I have booked in a with another MW next week who I had a great chat with over the phone. I will double check she will continue to care for me if I require an epidural.

I am struggling with food still. Awful taste in my mouth all the time, spew up breakfast, go to supermarket and want to throw up with the smells. I hope this gets easier soon. About 8 weeks at the moment. Yes, I know it lasts until about 13 weeks doesn't it!!! I said no to anti nausea pills as I was worried about the little bean, but now I think I should have got some to keep on hand...

Yea, if you're not sure how you hope things will pan out, or what you really want, I think find a nice decent middle-of-the road midwife who's happy to accomodate whatever happens! (Although I agree with Frankie, hopefully the previous one just meant that she was unable rather than unwilling, although to be honest I wouldn't go with her even then since complications do happen). They are out there - both my midwives (this time and last) were happy with whatever kind of birth I wanted - they didn't do home births, but practise at the birthing centres and the hospital, and would have transferred with me to the hospital if I'd needed it. I wonder if she meant that she couldn't deliver your baby if you had an epidural, not because she doesn't support you have an epidural but more because this would need to be done in a tertiary hospital and she may not be able (or willing due to distance) to practise there?

I planned to birth at Pukekohe maternity unit (natural birth) but had complications and was transferred to Middlemore, the midwife told me from the outset that if I birthed at Middlemore that she couldn't deliver my baby, as she needed to stay within a 20 km radius of the maternity unit at all times. It wasn't that she didn't support me having an epidural, just that they have to consider that other clients might be in labour at the same time. All the midwifes at that particular maternity unit operate the same way.

I had hated the idea of someone other than my midwife delivering my baby but it was not so bad in the end. My midwife was in touch with Middlemore throughout my labour and after I gave birth I transferred back to the maternity unit and she handled my postnatal care.

You will find that the birthing units are very pro natural birth but this is because they don't have the facilities to offer anaesthetics. So if you're keen to have an epidural you might want to consider going with a midwife who handles births at tertiary facilities.

Either way I agree with Kelly, make sure you find someone who you are comfortable with that will talk you through the different options. Missmel, I just wanted to say that that is absolutely disgusting that a mw said she wouldn't continue with you if you wanted a epi!!! I definately wouldn't be going with her! I would be looking for one that will support you with however you want to birth. And if you don't have any set ideas then one that will guide you through and go with the flow at the time.

Hi Girls

I'm a bit confused about finding a midwife. Went to one at a maternity place and they say they are there for women who want to birth naturally...

how would I know... is what I think.

Anyway, I'm just wondering if the midwife then continues to look after you if you have to go to hospital and get an epidural (because the one I've met with said she doesn't continue to if you have epidural).

Last week Gingerbeer was good - this week I don't want it at all.
This weeks menu is litebread, crumpets, bananas and chicken pan fried.
Oh dear, I never knew morning sickness lasted all day. Off for a sleep now to see if that helps.

MissMel my MS miracle cure was ginigerbeer when i was at my worst or even if i wasnt at my worst. Don't worry, I understand what you're saying. It's always good to have advice.
Yes, my DH has been very supportive through the whole thing and will be great to have him there at the scan.

Girls.. can anyone help me out. Get terrible MS, or maybe it just seems like that to me. It lasts all day and I'm going back to work on Monday after school holidays and need to get it under control. I haven't vomited yet but many runs to the bathroom.
All I've found that I can eat are litebread with nothing on, canned fruit, potato chips and have just had lemonade iceblock with powerade. Not very nutritional I know... Any advice on other things I can eat/drink???

Yay I'm finally back online properly now. We have moved house which was a huge task ended up with some scary spotting and pain but all was ok, I just over did things I think.
Im a little impatient at the mo, I couldnt wait till 12 weeks but now I cant wait to grow or feel bubs moving. kinda sucks in a way I dont feel preg at all MS has gone, my pants are fulling down not getting tighter! Im not peeing all the time now that bubs has moved off my bladder, I dont feel anything at all and I dont have any kicking to remind me that Im preg yet. The only sign I have that Im preg is my still growing bra stuffers, gezzz they were big before I kinda want them to slow down bras aren't cheap!!

Welcome MissMel, far out that 7 week scan seems like it was ages ago now but for DH it was important for him to be there since thats when things started feeling real for him. I think up until then for Dh it was me who injected, had blood tests and scans to check if I was ovulating. he felt like wasn't really doing anything with our fertility journey apart from having a bit of fun. So with my weekly bloods he still felt like it was me going through fertility treatment doing more bloods and it wasnt until he saw something that he realised that HE was actually having a baby, which is kinda weird b4 then he just looked at it as if it was me having a baby.
Guys are a lil weird at times so I really do think it is important for our other halfs to be at everyscan since they cant feel what we feel all they have to go off is what they see/hear so seeing a baby really changes things

Man I go on at times and Im not even sure that what I have said is understandable to anyone else but me but there you go.

Yay for the boy girl twins wannabub, I so cant wait to go shopping lucky you well theres nothing stopping me from hitting the shops but my own laziness really since Im not going to find out what bubs is until next year.

Mine actually ends up being 8 week scan for some reason, maybe when my specialist was free?

Bloods back and levels were 42,419 which sounds impressive to me and nurse is happy with. Had some pretty nasty morning sickness (day sickness too) today.

Wantabub - does DH need to come to the first early scan? Just wondering - did yours?

Thanks Buttons - all the waiting when TTC and then you actually conceive and have to wait for ages until you can tell people and feel the baby is here to stay.
7 weeks for me tomorrow and another blood test. Have to say I'm glad I'm getting them, makes me remember this is really happening. Starting feeling queasy in the weekend so that has started for me but all good.

Awww!!! Super news Wantabub Big congrats. Our friends have boy/girl twins (now 5yrs) and been so cool watching then grow up together... and watching the differences naturally come through ie boy/girl.

Yay for good HCG levels Miss Mel - this TTC'ing and pregnancy business does have a lot of waiting for results and counting down days. Congrats on the pregnancy too. I know how super exciting it is after all the trying.
Hope everyone else doing well Can't believe Charlie is nearly 5 months already. Seems only last week we were welcoming her to the world.

I went and got blood done at 9.15 (as form says do before 9.30 and I am on holiday) and then found the courier had already been. I hope this means I still get my results today. Hey Wantatub, had the scan done today, was amazing!! Bubs was perfect and happy and was waving to us and has long legs!! lol.. Was such a relief to see. As I'm only 11 weeks and 3 days need to get a 12 week scan done while we are in Scotland!! But all looks perfect she said! No, probably wont get on here again till we are back in a month.... I can't wait to hear your news when I get back! Take care..

Hey Miss Mel, I know what you mean about the nurses there, some are not that helpful, I had a really nice nurse but sometimes she wasnt available, what doctor are you with? I had Mary Birdsall, she was lovely.. Glad your going for the BT next week, you will feel better getting looked after till 7 weeks..

Ah yay thats good you got your normal nurse! Um I meet my mw at around 6weeks, I got in early cos its just before Xmas and apparently the good mw's fill up quick so I'd get in as early as possible. There is a tread in here called recommend your mw, see if there are any listed there in your area. Oh I had a quick look at your due date through the OB due date calculator and it said the 13th March Although if you have a scan at 7weeks, they'll have a better idea of your due date! Hope when you call back MissMel you get a nicer nurse, she sounded hopeless!

Hey Miss Mel, congratulations on your pregnancy!!! I would recommend the pregnancy monitoring through FA, it just gives you a bit of piece of mind that everything is tracking along as it should and the 7 week scan is awesome

There are lots of due date calculators on the internet, just google it and enter the first date of your last period and it will calculate your due date (I don't think cycle length affects it).

It's a shame the nurse at FA was so unhelpful, they are a miserable bunch at times aren't they! As long as you're taking folic acid you shouldn't need any other vitamins yet.

Wantabub - don't even know my due date... Am I supposed to work that out myself? I have a 31 day cycle so does that effect it? Really feeling a bit lost... I don't even know how many weeks I am. My last period was June 7. When I got the snotty nurse I forgot to even ask. Asked about vitamins and she said 'if you feel you need them'. Now I'm too scared to ring back incase she rings me back.

Yeah mine was, I think it was because the dr had put on my form that I'd had a previous mc. And yip it was at a radiology place. Maybe you could ring and ask a radiology place how much a dating scan would cost you with a referral?

Whats your due date MissMel? The scan is done when you are 7weeks pregnant! Wantabub - was the scan free with your referral from GP. Did they send you to a radiology place? Yeah, go the clomid! I'm a bit nervous because I know the MC odds but trying to stay positive and do all the right things!

Happygal - that's great that you got pregnant naturally!! Yes, will be first baby that's why I'm a bit clueless. Rung up FA and got a nurse that seemed quite 'short' so I didn't get to ask all the questions I wanted to to make an informed decision. Huge congrats MissMel, go the clomid I didn't do the monitoring only because I'd had a mc and was scared the blood tests would only stress me out more. I did get a referral for a scan at 7weeks from my dr so was happy to wait till then to see how things would turn out. And as you can see its turned great! Go with what feels right for you...

Wow not long till you fly off Happygal, getting excited? Whens your scan, Friday?

Hey welcome MissMel and congrats, such a great feeling isnt it!! We went with early monitoring with FA even though I got pregnant naturally, after doing clomid and IVF! They were brilliant and was so reassuring to have the regular blood tests then the 7 week scan, so I definately was happy!! Is this your first baby? Hey, I'm from the Clomid Pill Poppers Forum and have just had my second test for HCG levels which are over 200 so I'm pregnant!!! (finally)

Anyway, just wanting some advice - whether to get the monitoring with FA for $275 or go it alone... I don't know what I need to do if I go it alone so I'm thinking maybe I should stick with FA for the time being..
