Congratulations Chonny!!

Ok maybe it is my turn today/tomorrow. I had my show at 12.25 last night and have had contractions since 1.30am so have had no sleep. The contractions got to every 10 minutes lasting about 30-40 seconds but have now slowed down so will go for a walk or something to try and get things to speed up again.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the wishes and thoughts, now we need to send them to LInelle by the soudns of things.

Our little boy Vincent Samuel entered the world on Wednesday 23rd at 4.06pm weighing 8 pounds 4 ounces.

We arrived home from Birthcare this morning and are both doing well. He is feeding really well and very healthy.

HI Guys, well LInelle, i am past my due date. But we have action! Had my show Tuesday am. IT's now 5.35am Wednesday and i have been up since 12 with contractions. They have eased off in timing now but went for a solid 3 hours being 3-6 mins apart and lasting 60-75 seconds. Pain is unbearable but trying to hold out til 6am at least. Bit more of a decent hour to call midwife i think. Not long now, but i can't keep doing this on my own. HUbb y sleeping. I have only had 2 hours since ten am yesterday so thinking i need to get in that darn hospital and get them to break my waters so this child can hurry up.

Linelle, i hope things start happening for you soon too. It is so darn frustrating having to wait!

Hi there,

I have only just seen my midwife, she was delivering a baby yesterday.

She has told me to keep a kick chart over the weekend and if it is not 10 movements then i will be monitered on monday. If i am really worried about over the weekend i will be monitered this weekend.

She was feeling my tummy for baby's position and she said that he is really low and she couldn't feel his head because it was so far down in my pelvis!! I asked her if that was a good thing and she laughed and said yes because we know he will fit through.

So he is engaged and now just has to make up his mind to come out. Hubby gave him a stern talking to last night that he had better hurry up so hopefully Ethan listened.

By what the midwife said he will be here next week if not before then so i am really excited.

Thanks Rachel, yea i hope something happens this weekend. I wonder if baby will defy the law of only 5% of babies are born on their due date, and be one of them. Wouldn't it just be so funny if it was actually born on sunday? it's due date? Lol, especially coz i was a week early, my sister was 7 and half weeks early and my brother was 3 days late. Lol. Not sure bout my husband's side, but oh well. Guess they come whne they want, and if not, fingers crossed i get accepted for induction and it happens next week. ASAP if it were up to me. HI Deb, hope things are going well with Michael and Alan and that everything is nice and smooth for you.

Linelle - How did you get on with the midwife? Looking forward to hearing how things are going for you.

As for me, it took me two hgours to fall asleep last night. I felt naseus (?SP), baby was extremely active and had been since 4pm, and i just couldn't relax. OH yea, and i kept burping non stop with a little bit of reflux i think. Anyone know what might have caused this? Well, i'm still waiting for this stubborn child to come out. Hubby took the car today, so i'm stuck at home, not that it makes any difference anyway.

Linelle - How did your appointment with midwife go? Did she check the movements? I have another suggestion too, lie on your right hand side with your hand on your left side, baby's are often more active when lying on that side.

it just goes to showLinelle, i would deffinately get in touch with midwife. I told mine today that there wasn't much movement so after doing fe4eling thing for position and while doing heartbeat, she counted 3 movements. I only felt 2 of them, so it just goes to show how little space there must be.

Well, i have an irritated uterus too Nikkiwhyte, and it is so painful sometimes! In fact, midwife said that could be why i don't feel too much movement, because all the muscles are so tight from the braxtons / contractions.

Good news though, if i don't deliver by Sunday night (my due date) then midwife gpoing to send referal for induction. I have just had enough of these pains. I'm not sleeping well, and am getting really tired. Plus, low iron stores means i get even more tired therefore will tire easily during labour if this carries on too lone. Yay! I finally get something i want. lol. I said if i went past sunday i wanted to be induced, i know it's not always the nicest, but it's got to be better than waiting another week and half or so. I just couldn't handle that physically and emotionally. You know what i mean?

Well, must stop babbling again. lol

Linelle, def get in touch with midwife, if only for your own peace of mind. It will be easy enough for her to check heartbeat, position etc.

I third the checking thing - but you do also have to remember that at this stage, while we are usually looking for the "movements" that we have felt all along, ie the huge prods and kicks - because bubs is now squished right up, they usually only manage small wriggles - so any sensation that you can define as not being gas could pretty much be classed as movement - don't specifically think about the big ones. Also it be be that you are busy and moving around when he is most active therefore you do not notice it - babies at this stage also have sleep-wake cycles in-utero.

You could put in a panty liner or pad and then check it after about an hour- amniotic fluid is pale to straw coloured and doesn't smell. Urine and other leaky bits smell. OH Man! 3 Weeks! Well i have had cramping for a bout a month, but yea, this is different. Question fo rpeople, how do you know if your waters are leaking? I wonder if mine are. They haven't popped, or had a show yet, but i keep getting wet patches that aren't discharge in my undies. I know probably TMI again, but i'm just wanting to know how to work it out. A lady i know thought her bladder was leaking for a couple of days, then went into premature labour. Well, i know that not happening for me coz i'm full term, but what if it is them leaking? Is it bad for baby? Well ladies, i hate to scare anyone, but you know the term pre-labour? No-one ever told me it could go on for a week! Cointractions that started last thursday were here there and everywhere thurs and fri but got VERY strong Sat and Sun (i think due to sex....i know i know.... TMI!) and eased off 6pm sun night. Still going but not strong monday and tus then peaked for an hour tuesday night. Still have heaps of cramping etc and some very painful! But am still in one piece!
Got really upset saturday and sunday when things didn't happen, plus when rang M/W, she wasn't very friendly and didn't make me feel better

Well, guess i better stop babbling but Linelle hope things are well for you in these last few days. I'm just getting fed up with waiting and getting anxious to meet this little one!

Labour wishes to us and good feeeding and sleep wishes to those with a bubs already

WoW semm's I have missed heaps congrats Rach I love the fact your girl named bub's what a cool idea.
Kelpa I was just looking at you ticker what date did you have bub's I think we might have had baby the same day. Well thing's are going really well better the I expected Michael is a wonderful feeder most of the time we are slowly getting a good routine which is great we are on 3 hourly feed's ( I am not being strict or anyting I just need abit of structure to the day) Alan is being really gentle with him which is really lovely he is getting grumpy faster tho but that was to be expected.
I have had great support from hubby despite the fact he is still very sick with the flu and still working I am so proud of him. Also Mum has been awsome (she is not my Mum she is a lady from our church that has taken me under her wing it is so nice) I don't have a good relationship with my Mum And she live's in Palmy. I am really finding it so much easir then I did with Alan and I think is cause of all the support.
Well must go I seem to have no time anymore takecare all of you and congrat's to all the new Mum's.
And lots of labour vibe's to you still waiting to meet you wee one's trust me the wait is worth it.

at 6.18pm last night my wee girl was born, we named her kayla (well her big sis did ) she weighed 5lb 15oz so seems like a wee dot to us! and feeding etc... is going well. yay! im glad its over but feeling emotional

It was brilliant, I couldn't believe it was over so quickly!
Linelle, I asked for an epidural when we arrived, as I had one with Ella and was a bit scared of doing it without. All the anaesthetists (sp) were in theatre though and when one was finally free I was already pushing him out!
I'm really glad now that I didn't get it, I've recovered so much quicker this time compared to my first and I remember everything so much better as well.

Ok, once again I'll try to write Ben's birth story. (have tried and been interrupted so many times!)

On Sunday the sixth I woke up at 7am with mild cramps in my tummy. They were fairly regular at 6 mins apart but I didn't think too much of it as my midwife had warned me two days earlier about false labour being more common with subsequent pregnancies.
After 2 hours of regular pains I woke hubby and told him. He smiled and went back to sleep, so I went downstairs and rang my Mum who promptly got very excited and told me to do some housework to hurry things along.
After cleaning the house top to bottom and doing a bit of running up and down the stairs the contractions hadn't progressed at all and I was exhausted so I went back to bed. I woke again at about 1 and the contractions had become irregular in strength and timing so very disappointedly I wrote it off as a false alarm.
I went upstairs to pack my bags just on the off chance that things would happen soon, and was struck with a very sudden and urgent need to go to the loo, (sorry tmi!!) and after that the contractions came back with a force at 5 minutes apart.
I still wasn't convinced that it was the real thing as I hadn't had a show or my plug or my waters but decided to text midwife.
She said it sounded like early labour and to give her a ring when things got too much at home.
Went out for a walk with Hubby and Ella and by the time we got back contractions were much stronger.
I started preparing dinner but had to abandon it as the contractions were too close to get anything done!
Hubby thought it might be a good idea to time them and found that they were just under 2 mins apart. Rang Mum to pick up Ella and rang midwife to meet us at the hospital in an hour.
We arrived at NSH at 8.30, and midwife discovered I was 7cms. She broke my waters and I jumped in the shower. (lovely showers at NSH!!)
After 10 minutes the contractions were coming on top of one another and I was beginning to want to push.
Another check revealed I was now 9cms but the anterior lip was in the way of his exit.
For the next few contractions I had to breathe through while M/W tried to move it out of the way, not pleasant!!
I was on my back while she did this, and the weight of it made my arms and hands go numb which was weird.
Finaly it was time to push, and I discovered the true meaning of 'ring of fire'. As he crowned, I screamed at the top of my lungs "Oh My God, Get him out of me right now" Which made everyone laugh sympathetically
Then he arrived, perfect and tiny and gorgeous. 3.5kgs at 10.50pm.
He celebrated his arrival with a wee all over Mummy and then a little poo for Dad
One week on and we're doing great. He's stacking on the weight and very contented.
Sleep deprived and exhausted with looking after 2 babies, but so, so grateful for my beautiful healthy family.

Linelle... do the cold water thing to get him jumping. Could just be that he is reeeeeally running out of room. And if his head is engaged that kinda prevents movement... does it? Anyway, seems likely.
P.S. You may hate me for this, but don't get your hopes up about going into labour early, even if your midwife says it's likely... I think Jess' midwife said the same thing and she ended up going 5 days over. I just hate to see people be disappointed when what people tell them isn't fulfilled!

I would think you should still be having the 10 movements in 12 hours. Have a really cold drink and lie down see how you go otherwise I would be tempted to ring your midwife. Yea i second the pee thing. I can no longer go from morrinsville to Hamilton without busting to go by the time i get there and it is only a 20-25 min drive so no long trips for me.

last night i was giving my youngest girl (2 years) a cuddle and dancing with her having a bit of fun.... she looked at me in the eyes, just stared... and i had one of those moments where i couldnt help but get all teary. then it started! all my emotions, wah!. how my wee girls lives and mine and hubbys are about to change! it was a nice happy moment as well as slightly sad thinking about how it might affect my girls.... just thought i'd share.
