My little gal was hiding a bit and they couldn't find the heartbeat until they did the internals (at 6, 8 and 10 weeks) which had me in tears each time before they found it. It's okay, but some people might get a bit of a shock hence the warning.

You're not alone. Whilst bleeding is not "normal" many of us have had spotting with no problems. Some women continue to spot around the time they would have got their period (so about now for you). I bled fresh red blood (enough that I had to wear a pad) intermittently from 6 weeks through to 17 weeks and after many scans nothing seems to be wrong. But definitely chase up your midwife or GP. Even if they don't do an US (just be warned that they'll do a vaginal one at your stage of pregnancy) they'll do some HCG's to make sure your hormone levels continue to rise.

Good luck. Hope everything's fine.
