Im really pleased with the outcome, i put a few drops of tea tree oil in the bag before i put the load on and comes out smelling like tea tree. I learnt after the first wash i need to tie the bag very tight to stop them falling out but after that they have been great.

Treen it says on the instruction manual thing they don't have whitener in them so you adding a cup of lemon juice every now and then helps with the stains and general whitening. they wash the discharge off my undies.. I can't wait till we sell the house and I can go back to a top loader.

First, I've used soapnuts in mine if that's the same thing? A lot of people rave about them but I don't find them to be any good. They just don't seem to clean IMHO. I used them for about 2 months before I gave up on them. I found they didn't remove odours or stains and warning, TMI, but discharge still on panties? Urm not good! Their skins would also flake off and come out of the bag and all over my washing no matter how tight I would tie the bag.

Has anyone tried a homemade washing powder in their front loader? I'm too scared in case the washing soda crystals get lodged in the pipes or something. Front loaders and modern appliances don't seem to be as robust as they were back in the day.

They use much less water than a top loader. I'd say mine looks like it's 1/3 full of water when it's on. You do have to be careful you don't overload them, though. I kinda place my washing in. I make sure I don't stuff it in tight, like I used to with a top loader.
