Finlly got round to a visit! We we had a little boy born at home (with no drugs?!) at 1.45am Wednesday morning. He was 6 1/2 pound after 6 hours of labour. All doing well - very tired ! Sorry Maree I shouldn't laugh....it sounds like something I'd do though if I had a bath!! I do know of one girl who got stranded in a bean bag and had to wait an hour and a half for her hubby to get home though.

And yeah part of me is getting excited and the other part of me is still being a big sook and not looking forward to being in hospital without hubby over night. (I've never been in hospital overnight before and hubby and I haven't spent any nights apart since marrying so......)

The Bath Tub almost won!!!!

I decided to go and have a nice relaxing bath to soakaway some of the grumpy pregnancy gripes...except underestimated just HOW gigantic I have become in comparison to our 1970s model cast iron, sunk into the bathroom floor bathtub. Having slightly planned ahead and taken my cellphone into the bathroom with me just in case I needed rescuing, I also didn't count on there being no cellphone coverage from the bathroom.... So anyway, I hoisted myself down into the bathtub, which I had partially filled so that I could temperature control the rest once I got in....but then once I was wedged into the bathtub I couldn't reach over the bump to the taps....
so in summary.... wedged in a bathtub two sizes too small with a third of a tub of lukewarm water and bubbles (making it halfway up my thighs), with the sun directly in my eyes because I didn't lower the blind because it wasn't until I was at ground level that the sun was even visable and trapped without communication to the outside world. It all seemed like such a better idea in my head.

Well hubby and I went out to Lone Star last night for a last dinner out...it was so good! Especially the banoffie pie! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Went for a walk afterwards and little miss stubborn is obviously determined that we go ahead with the plans for Thursday night. *sigh*

Oh, and I've also given Nick my cellphone to be guardian of so that it doesn't annoy me either. He's screening texts for the Maree-annoyance factor. He's working from home today and starts his leave on Thursday, so he's somewhat used to being at my beck and call now...

ARGHHH! How annoying!! I suppose that is the one good thing with my suspected GD and being a week over...the specialist at NSH was willing to book the inducement (I never thought I'd be grateful for all that glucose showing up!!!) otherwise I might have been going longer too!

I really hope things move along for you!

I'm now pretty grumpy becuase I went back to bed this morning feeling really quite grotty. I was asleep....I'm talking fast asleep...when you guessed it..my phone dings away merrily with a text...."so has anything happened yet???". Ah yes, I'm back from my appt with Monique and the THIRD stretch and sweep that I've had this pregnancy. As with the other two, it's unlikely anything will happen. I'm still 2 - 3cm dilated, cervix is spongy and 70% effaced and still posterier (as everything has been for the past three weeks). For all of Monique's talk of making sure that I didn't go over and inducing early, the specialist at North Shore has said that it will be fine and they are in no hurry to do anything while the baby is growing happily.
I've got another appt with Monique next Tuesday (that's right, OCTOBER 2nd) when she will try and get me an appt with NSH to try and get them to break my waters. Third baby and going into the overdue club *sob*...this is something first timers are supposed to have.... Yeah I'm lurking here...           That's TERRIBLE, Nikki!  As if you need to spend that due date being constantly reminded... oh my gosh!  And Frantic - how'd you not burst into tears in that shop - I think I'd have just crumbled if it'd been me.  People really should watch their mouths when they're sharing their pig-ignorant opinions about our pregnancies!

aaaahhhhh yes...well our big day has been and gone...oh well...nothing I can do right? Just hang out and eat heaps of Nutella on toast yummmm....

My next midwifes appt is on Thursday so I am going to ask then when we will look at inducing...by my calculations the earliest they would do it is next Thursday but I think 12 days is more common so more likely next Saturday...so still a while to go yet for this baby to decide to come out on it's own...

Hope you see some action soon Paws and Maree....!

I was in labour with Maya and Willie's nosy old Aunty told me I couldn't possibly be because I hadn't "dropped". Turns out fat thing was so long that even when she did drop it didn't change the shape of my bump.

When I was expecting Ella I was carrying really high right up until the day she arrived. And she arrived on her due date! So don't give up hope, she might be here sooner than you think

Argh - did you throw something at the woman behind the counter? People should know that it is not safe to antagonise pregnant women - they are placing themselves in a seriously risky position there....
Due dates suck. You spend MONTHS aiming and counting down to this one reasonably random day and then feel miserable when nothing happens. I'll be there on Wednesday. After two membrane sweeps, two trips to the hospital where they have said they are inducing and then stopped five minutes before breaking the waters and two weeks of contracting, I've given up. still here....bleeuuggghhhhhhh!!!!!
Today is my due date and what a huge anti-climax it has been. Woke up this morning and just about Burst into tears...when is this baby ever going to come!!!
Went into a store today and the old lady behind the counter said: "when are you due luv?" and I said "today". and she said - oh no dear, you look way too high, are you sure you have your dates right?".
seriously.
she said that.
cue the second lot of crying for the day but all I could muster was a mumble and some watery eyes before I just about ran out... honestly I am really uncomfortable, but I can deal with that, it's teh constant wanting to cry that is getting me, I am not crier usually, but the last two weeks I have been horrific, just getting teary for the smallest things, must be the hormones cos this is not me!!I swear this is not me!!!
aahhhhhhhh noooooooo.... oh well what can I do but wait, at least it will only be another 12 days (LOL only!?!?!?! yeah ONLY!!!!)

Five days of September left....

Nothing says late stage pregnancy like waking up at 4am every day for a week. Thought I'd forego my usual up by myself early treat of cocopops this morning and am having a healthy pasta breakfast! Mmmmm olives, tomato, pinenuts and chilli chicken at 5.14am. Hey all,
Still pregnant, still not impressed with late night tv and getting grumpier to be near by the day. Fingers crossed that your wee Maddie is on her way out very soon Paws. At least one of the 'September three' should actually give birth in September!!!

Well as I mentioned else where...i had loads of Braxton Hicks yesterday which got somewhat more uncomfortable in the late evening...was starting to get a little excited thinking...ohhhhh this could be it. Went to bed and all came to a great big grinding halt. Figures. *sigh*

So now my prediction for me a c-section on the 28th following unsucessful induction. (ever the pessimist I am at the moment!)

The cervix has to 'retract' - so to speak - so the first stages of pregnancy, it softens and shortens and then you dialate. This is most common in first pregnancies. In second and subsequent pregnancies, the cervix shortening and dialation can happen at the same time hence the reason for shorter labours for your 2nd, 3rd, 4th kiddies etc.

Speaking of shopping...we went and bought a second hand playstation 2 and a few games....bit of a splurge but at least we can afford it. Hey MrsF - I'm not sure if there is a way to shorten your cervix...it just happens. If it's any consolation, it could happen quickly

My hubby is in trouble BIG TIME. He dared to admit that he would rather that I not go into labour until at least after the weekend because he has stuff to do. GRRRR. Like being unable to sleep in a bed, move around or feeling crappy for weeks/months hasn't been inconvenient for me? If there was a way I could get myself into labour now just to spite him... *clicks fingers furiously*

well went to midwife this morning and convinced her to do a sweep (my sciatica is making me seriously homocidal so she agreed) and anyway she did it and she said that I am 2cm dialated (yay yay yay, happy mrs f nearly jumped off the couch)BUT THEN SHE SAID (can you hear the sound of my heart dropping into my stomach here?) that the cervix is still quite long and needs to shorten a lot for me to go into labour...what????? hey I have dialation who needs a short cervix COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So how exactly does one get one's *ahem* cervix to shorten I ask you? Who the hell knows? aaaregghhh! For one blisful; moment there i thought we were close...
THEN I found out that after being a 4 on the moving down scale and fully engaged last week little missy has decided she doesnt like being down there and ready to go so she has moved up to a 3...SHE HAS MOVED UP TO A 3!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRR Come on baby - what the hell is your problem, you cant move down and then decide "oh no wiat actually I dont feel like being born this week really think I will wiggle up here and hide a while longer" ....obviuosly the child has a tendancy towards being difficult already, I blame this squarely on her father, he is the king of difficult, and now, NOW it looks like I have the little princess of difficult on my hands...thank you husband...!
Anyway had the sweep at 9 this morning and a slight show at about 11 but nothing has happened since and I am picking from how midwife was speaking that it isnt likely to happen any time soon....
HUMPH! Bet you rachel from friends didnt have a looonnnnnggggg cervix ....

Aww Kelly - immunisations are always hardest on the parents. I have to say, I'm not looking forward to the extra sleep deprivation, but I do feel as if I've been training up for it with all of the recent sleepless days and nights.

Well, I took my pregnancy frustration out on the bank account today...from 9.30 to 11.30am I managed to call into Servilles to get my fringe trimmed (I didn't think I could sit through the entire colour and cut routine) and buy some nice shampoo and condition, went to Farmers and bought some around the house summer clothes, Kumfs for some funky(ish) sandals that were in the catalogue, Columbus for an iced mocha frappe, the pharmacy for some bubble bath, Toys R Fun for a swing and slide set and rocking duck for Andrew for Xmas, Booklovers for some more Xmas shopping, Living and Giving but I couldn't find anything I liked and then the Warehouse for some megablocks. Nick is packing a sad about being dragged out, but I have tried to explain that if I get locked up in the house for weeks on end then he can't be too surprised when I commando shop...... I'm also hoping that the burst of activity will get this kid moving. Oh I hope it all happens soon for you guys!! You all sound so fed up and uncomfortable! I keep thinking that if Ashleigh hadn't arrived so early then I would most probably be feeling exactly the same as you!! And Maree, my Step mum had her waters break and it was about a teaspoon, she thought she had had an accident, so that is possible. Was listening to Polly on ZM this morning talking about her neighbours husband who sent the baby photos with a little extra to 44 people by email. I think I would maim Nick if he sent ANYONE photos of my battered, post birth girly bits - in fact - I'd maim him if he sent (or took) photos of me with my legs spread anyway.

Even the 6.30pm Friends re-run on tv2 was mocking me today. ... There I was, sitting on the old faithful recliner I've been living in for the last month, snapping at random family members walking by and the episode with the overly pregnant nasty to be around Rachel was on. Of course the episode ended with Rach going in to labour...while I just continued snapping on the chair....
Glad to hear that you've narrowed the name choices down MrsF. Nick and I finally decided on a name last week - we thought that gigantababy would be difficult for the wee guy to spell....

hmmm yes I think I am at the stage were I dont really care how she comes out, as long as she just gets out soon that would be nice!

Paws, I had resigned myself to the fact of induction and c-section too by your stage. At 42 weeks, they decided that Ashlee wasn't going to make an appearance by herself, and I guess because I was in that frame of mind, hearing 'c-section' wasn't as scary as I first thought. aaarrgghhhhhh weelllll I am still here too... looks like we all have stubborn little babies...
I have been walking my butt off to try and start things but really I dont think we are anywhere close. Havent had a niggle or a tease... not even having any braxron hicks really. And the phone keeps going with people who want to know if I am in labour every day (worst of which is my mother, I know she is excited but man oh man every morning the same call..."soooo...how are we today...?" ) I am grumpy as hell, not even a huge session at saint cinnemon could cheer me up yesterday! Another lady I know who shares the same due date as me had her baby yesterday and I was so jelous (terrible isnt it - instead of penis envy I have labour envy!!!)
I have totally run out of things to do to keep me occupied, and have no energy to go out and find any new projects. Arent I just a ray of sunshine?
Ah well....AT LEAST I KNOW THAT IT CAN ONLY BE ANOTHER 2 WEEKS AND 4 DAYS !!!!!!(even that seems too long for me to wait now)
I am almost considering starving this kid to get her to come out - no more yummy nutella on toast for her, nah it will be water and thats all...and if she is hungry she can damn well come out and get some food herself ha ha! That'LL teach her for treating mummys womb like some kind of hotel!
