Herewego - Wil be thinking of you but Yes enjoy sleep. Rhyley mucked about for 2 hours from 1.30 till 3.30am so on the tired side at present but hes been asleep now since 10am so having some time out and hopefully he'll have a few hours this arvo cause I plan to sleep with him...
I am going to after this go in the new november trend but do come and join us there ..

I'm still getting up to Josiah at least once a night... not because he's waking though, more because he wiggles out of the covers and is cold! Herewego don't feel left out! I got loads of texts and calls on due date which was so thoughtful and lovely, but can make you feel a little pressured to perform! Baby will come exactly when is right for them and you, so enjoy & relax, and uh..SLEEP!

How funny, we've found out our boy was actually 7 pound 15 - not 7 pound 1 as we'd first thought, the dr got the kilo conversion wrong! Made me feel pretty good actually, thought he seemed bigger, felt bigger! Also after needing the suction cap to turn him around it all makes a bit more sense. Congratulations Ann, you have travelled the gamut of  birth experiences by the sounds of it... thank you all for sharing, it really does help to get perspective of how things work, today we started working on a plan to try to get baby to sleep for 4 hour blocks (he has been feeding 2 hourly since the milk came in) and was just starting to get downhearted that it wasn't working yet.. hello, 4 days old, I'll stop being so ambitious I think, and just chill and be grateful for all that we have, most of all a healthy, bonny baby a very  helpful husband. I'll move across to the November Mummies thread, but leave you all with wishes for a restful night!

Just getting a chance to let you know our beautiful boy Hawaiki James arrived a healthy 7.1 pounds on Saturday at 12.12pm  18 hrs ish of labour and then a bit of a hand with suction cap to face him around the right way and he was out.. For a first labour I think we did pretty well, and my husband, sister and midwife were a wonderful support team. Congratulations and best thoughts with you all - milk is coming in today and we all getting used to it!

annC - goodluck tomorrow! i hope everything goes well and look forward to hearing all about your bub. my first was an elective c-sect for breech bubs. as for recovery, the i had charli (c-sect#2) on a tues, home on sat, shopping for clothes for her the following tues! so really it varies from person to person. i don't think the recovery is really as bad as people make it out to be.....for some i should say though, don't mean to begrudge anyone that has had a long recovery!

I was telling my midwife about my first birth and she said it sounded like a typical "1980's" birth lol ... so dont worry herewego the 1980's are long gone thank goodness !
Im coping ok .. been abit teary this week .. broken sleep and cabin fever i think .. i'd forgotten how full on new babys were!!

SuziE - sounds like Thomas is thriving, and that you are coping really well, despite the lack of sleep!

AnnC - How exciting. You get to meet your little one tomorrow! Not long to wait now. Cant wait to hear how it all went, and see some photos of your bubba!

Hehehe - I'd rather not hear about the nightmare births you all seem to have had first time round though. I much prefer the sounds of the 2nd/3rd time births...

Two days till my due date now, and baby still doesnt seem to be showing any signs of coming. I reckon he's quite comfortable where he is, and plans on staying there for a while longer. Only you can judge if you are up to doing all that :) Just remember ... you really really dont want to pull the stitches ... I found the sudden jarring of the car and just the fact that the seatbelt went over my belly abit unnerving ...

even after 3 weeks (today !!) Im feeling really great, but Im still very aware that I cant move certain ways yet for fear of bursting the scar ...

I am being a bit ambishous (totally wrong spelling) that the weekend after having baby my daughter Brooke has her play and I want to go see it on the sat night then on the sunday we have the annual a & P show that I would like to take her for an hour, 13 year old going with friends so no probs there just I know she will want to go. hehe suzi sounds like all of our first weren't the ideal births although I do think that it made me more prepared for the second birth. Hey girls :) Ive been lurking keeping an eye on you all!! Ive just had no time to post ..... I really dont know what I do with my time (yeah right ... ) but there just isnt enough hours in the day!!    Thomas is still lovely, he has progressed to 3 hourly sleeps during the day, he is abit of a cluster feeder - a real booby monster during the 6-9.30pm hours ... he's filling out and getting more alert during his awake times ...
taking abit to settle again at his 3amish feed but hey ... he's only almost 3 weeks old :)   (How old are they before you start using tough love? LOL)
I am feeling tired though ... all the broken nights starting to catch up on me and I havent been having day naps ....

So ... Not long for you girls now .... exciting!!

I was the same with my second Debbie I think its because we know what to expect and that most things are normal. I was very in control with Brooke and enjoyed the experience unlike first one which I will never want to repeat again. Hi all,

Both my girls are having a sleep (after both being up most to the night, little monkeys) so have time to share the birth story (sorry its a long one).

Woke up on Wed morning at 4.30 with mild contractions coming every 10 mins, DH had the day off work (good timing) but couldn't sleep so got up at 5.30, with Jaz waking up soon after. We all were sitting watching cartoons by 6am. At 6.30am I let DH know that things were starting to happen and he was very surprised, contractions were irregular, from 5-10 mins apart and not very sore.

I told my mum things were happening at 8.30 (shes staying with us), she had a shopping day planned with my sister, but I told her to go anyway as this stage lasted for a few days with Jaz, so she took off. DH also took off as he goes for a swim at the local leisure centre on his days off. At 9.30 I phoned MW to let her know, she had another lady whose waters had broken earlier in the morning. At this stage contractions were getting a bit worse and I was regretting being at home on my own looking after a toddler, fortunately Jaz was tired from the early start and needed a sleep, and it wasn't long before DH got home too.

By 12noon contractions were quite strong and I was letting the whole neighbourhood know how I felt. At 1pm I phoned mum and asked her to come home, unfortunately she was on the other side of town and didn't get home until 2pm. I phoned the MW and let her know we were going to the hospital, she was already there with her other lady.

At 2.30 she did an internal to find I was 4cm dilated, I was dissappointed thinking that I had come in too early and still had a long way to go. Her backup babysat me while she looked after her other lady. At 3pm I jumped in the birthing pool and things started straight away and my MW was called back as I was starting to get a lot of pressure. MWs were having fun as I was still talking and making fun off myself during contractions. My waters still hadn't broken so the MW had to brake them as bubs was coming out. Stephanie took her first swimming lesson at 3.52pm. My MW then had to go back to help her first lady, and was now expecting a 3rd lady to come in, poor thing.

I still can't believe how calm and relaxed the whole experience was, I had control of things and instintively knew what to do, which was a completely different experience from my first birth. Ohhh AnnC, I'm sorry to hear that bubs hasnt obliged and turned around, but it must be great to know exactly WHEN things are happening! How exciting! By this time next week, you will definately be holding your wee one in your arms! YAY!!!!!!!!

Congratulations Becca!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope everything went well, and nice to hear you finally have Xavier in your arms.

Hope everyone is well and that the last few days of pregnancy are kind to all those still waiting for bubs grand appearance.

Just a quick post as Stephanie is going to wake up soon. We are doing well, working on the sleep bit so am pretty tired, but breastfeeding is going to well, in fact too well as she wants to feed all the time.

Happy Due date everyone....
I been getting pains since last night but I am sure they are braxton hicks, managed to sleep but distrubed. I am not expecting to go into labour before ceasar date but its not like things always got to plan. Just going to keep eye on them to see if they are regular. Baby very active this morning.
Hoz things for everyone else? Becca I see your still around and in one piece.
Had midwife yesterday and I don't see her till ceasar day now - which is 6 days away. Still a few things to get done before then - especially pack my bag but with having a date I haven't made it proirty.
The weather suxs too as I want to strip the kids beds but don't really want to use the dryer but may have to - s'pose to fine up today this arvo so heres hoping.

We booked flights and accom for our trip to Uk and USA next year. Pretended baby was here so we could book our seats so we are guanteed a bulk head with bassinette.

Just a quick note from me to say that Stephanie Amy arrived yesterday at 3.52pm weighing 3.98kgs (8lb8ozs). Things happened really quickly and I got the drug free waterbirth that I wanted! We're home now, would have come home last night but they didn't recommend it. Oh I'm due next Wednesday, but work is only 4 and half hours, early in the morning, so it's not like the 8 hour stint to push through, and the (Male) boss asked me to keep going until I felt ok.. also only get paid when working, and although the paid parental leave came through, I'm just not used to not earning! Silly because my husband has it all covered and is great.. just an adjustment when first baby comes in early thirties! 3/5 engaged Herewego? I must ask for that kind of assessment,  that's a good way of describing it, our baby is head down and definitely heading way south, but will have an examination on due date if nothing has happened before then. So Becca must be back with great news soon?!

I had midwife today and nothing to report really. We went over birth plan but really there isn't one because of ceasar, just that I will breastfeed and vit K. We both don't think this baby will turn due to all the things I had said earlier so look like its 21st for me. Not long really kind of same timing as you herewego. wish I could of gone into work for a day a week as i am bored at home it would of just broken the week. although its wed and it really hasn't taken that long to get here.

Oh yeah - probably should update my current state! I had MW appt yesterday. Blood pressure is fine, baby is in optimal position and 3/5 engaged. Not expecting anything to happen in the next week or two, but good to know that he's behaving.   Had a trace of glucose in my pee on the stick test, but nothing too much to worry about. MW wants me to restrict my sugar intake this week, and will see what next weeks test brings. Wow Becca - how exciting that things have started for you. Actually - hopefully they are all OVER by now, and you are holding your wee one in your arms as I type this! (Sorry, I didnt get on here yesterday, so I'm a bit behind the times...)

SuziE - Awwwhhhhh, thanks for sharing the photos of your little one! SOOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!

AnnC - Glad your parental leave letter turned up. Must have been a relief. I was almost at the point of contacting them to check they'd recieved my application, when the response arrived in the post that day, so know how you must have felt.

I offically finished work back on the friday before labour weekend, but the office asked if I could help out on some busy days....so I've been going in just one day a week to lend a hand. Its just an office job, so not too strenous, and gave me something to do. But like you AnnC, I find that I'm shattered by 3pm! I dont think I'll be able to go back next week....

tahae - I dont know how you have managed to work so long! When are you due?

 Arghh I'm sorry I've been so slack everybody! Still working and due next week, but that's the way when you're a contractor... now need to concentrate on other contractions! Have been lucky feeling good etc.. So more than anything just wanted to send beautiful welcomes to all the stunning babies, (love those photos!) and incredible mummies that you are. he's so cute. got appt for preadmission and see the antestist next week on 16th then it will only be 6 days till thee day -wow makes it all so real. I know baby not turned as still digging its head in my ribs.

Ann - My hubby wanted to cut the cord too but when told that because of the CS he wouldnt be able to make the first cut - only 'trim' it .. he flagged it and just made sure bubs was in his arms as soon as was possible.

Debbie maybe its been best that bubs has stayed put ... NSH has been full to the brim ... really really busy ... the poor midwives have been rushed off their feet .. maybe she's waiting for it to quieten down abit so your stay is more pleasant    I was overdue with both my first babies and my doc told me good old rumpy pumpy is the best form of induction there is hehe ....

I was reading through this thread and Im so glad I started posting here .. its like a diary .. a rememberance ... once baby has arrived pregnancy seems surreal ... my feet are almost back to normal .. my face looks like me again .. my tummy whilst sore is going down .. but my 'zipper line' is still there ...

Anyways ... introducing Thomas to you all    He is still very relaxed .. sleeps well ... 5-6 hours at night (so far so good) long may it last!!   He poo's like there is no tomorrow though ...





These were taken in the first couple of days and he has changed abit since then .. his cheeks have filled out hehe

Ann - I will try and write up about the CS tomorrow and post it in that thread.

Good news with the parental leave Ann, that must be a relief. At our house the days that there is no mail are good days, and know what you mean about bills coming all at once. Hope you have fun with your friends, nice to have some company.

I have a MW appointment this afternoon where she is going to check bubs heart beat and fluids. Fortunately she has all the equipment in her rooms so I don't have to go the hospital to get it done. Then we try and work out a game plan. I received confirmation yesterdday about parental leave - phew thought i would have to juggle yet more money around since rate bill, car rego and warrant are due too. Never ending aren't they bills.
What are you doing working still herewego?
Me I am going out for lunch then guess I had better sort out my daughters room like I promised her, she does the inital tidying and I come along and do the rest of the sorting - under bed etc....

I had been told that the Dr cuts the cord but leaves it long, I don't really think my Hubby will be too bothered he can't cut it.
As for her play had a feeling that I may miss it and so will get it video'd\, also the sunday we have an A & P show (like a fair) so I will try and take her to that for a couple of hours. Be more walking than anything so once again will see how I feel.
Oh and on the drama note her teacher said she'd get me a wheel chair LOL...

AnnC I'm sorry to say you will probably miss your daughter's play as the minimum hospital stay after c/s is usually 3-4 days. Also some women feel great after 4 days but I was still having trouble standing/sitting upright without soreness for the whole first week. I don't like to be the bearer of bad news and hopefully you'll do better, but get it videoed and then you can keep it anyway

Hi ladies.
Wow not long to go I just read the post on swollen feet.
I had majorly swollen ankle and feet the day before I went into labour, they were so bad I couldnt walk and I was stuck in bed the whole night with my feet up on a pillow. Tehy were fine the next day, but it was a horrible feeling.

Everything going good with bubba i got him into a routine know and he wakes either once or twice during the nite I'm very glad I got a content baby for my 1st.

Jasmine was 2 weeks late, so I know that I could be in one piece for awhile longer. My mum was 2 weeks late with my sister, 3 weeks late with me and 4 weeks late with my brother (my MW has promised me she won't let me go that long )

Holy Poos - is your feet s'pose to go purple? Here I am sitting on my bed one foot up the other hanging over the side on the ground and just lifted up my foot and its swollen and purple - whoops. I mean my ankles seem to be permittley swollen now but purple? I have put it up on the bed now just to see what it does.

I am ok about the fact I have to have a ceaser, kinda think its cool now as no early labour , strong contractions etc..... I will be glad to have my ribs back.
Debbie my second was 5 days over and she was a girl although once she decided she was going to come out she was in a hurry, vry quick labour no transition stage and two pushes and she was out.
I am getting bored at home - wondered how long it would take me.... I am doing something off my list every day and did the bathroom today.
Question - how long was it for those who got maternity leave till they go notice they were getting it and when? I sent mine away on the 18th of last month and still haven't heard a thing about it. Hi girls just popped into catch up and let you all know that Thomas arrived as per schedule at 3.56 pm on Monday the 30th October, 7pound 4oz, head of black hair, long and lean and very very cute!!    All is well, Csection went fine, I escaped hospital last night as NSH was full and busy ... VERY nice to be home. Healing well - not much pain or discomfort (only when I laugh). Baby is a booby monster feeding hourly alot, then sleeping for a couple of 3 hourly stints inbetween.

Annc - sorry to hear bubs wouldnt turn. I really have to say the worst part of a CSection is the anticipation of it all. Keep positive Im sure all will be fine

Hope the rest of you are ticking along - took afew strolls along the ward to see if you had come in while I was there Debbie hehe ...

Will post birth story and piccys soon ... for now I must sleep!

Hi AnnC - yep, I'm still here. I have been posting much lately, but I have been lurking, and keeping track of everyones news! Thats a bugger that baby wouldnt turn for you, and hat you have to have a C-section.   But I guess its sort of nice to know exactly what date baby will arrive too. Wow, 19 days really isnt far away at all!

Becca - Ive heard that its not uncommon for 2nd and 3rd babies not to engage prior to labour, so I wouldnt be worried about Xavier not moving down just yet. Look on the brightside - it can get pretty damn uncomfortable when baby moves down into the pelvis, so if yours doesnt do that until just before deciding to come, its got to be a whole heap more comfortable for you!

Debbie, sorry to hear that your uncomfortable now. Hopefully baby will decide to make an appearance fairly soon for you!


Well, as for me...I'm just ticking over. Baby is about the right size, is head down, and has lowered since my last appointment. I'm feeling generally okay, but glad not to be at work anymore! (having a bit of a lazy day today...) Went to a baby and me course this morning, which follows on from our antenatal classes, and teaches new mums how to care for new born babies. I'm officially overdue, but I'm not surprised. Shes moved right down now which is restricting my walking speed, I move like an old granny now.

Bummer that Xavier hasn't moved down Becca, but I've heard that sometimes it doesn't happen until labour especially if its not your first. I do hope it happens for you soon though as the irregular contractions must be driving you crazy.

Sorry bubs couldn't be turned Ann, I'm sure the 19 days will fly by, and it would be nice to have a date to count down too rather the wait and see game.

Hello!

I saw my midwife yesterday... Xavier hasn't moved any further down ... now it's just a waiting game. Lynn thinks he'll arrive around his due date, maybe just after. Nat and I hope he'll come soon!

I am so sick and tired of being so sore! I'm still having irregular irritable uterus contractions (which come across the middle of the tummy) as well as these other weird ones that feel like I've got the stitch except its too low.

Well my tickers says I have 26 days to go but since I am having a ceaser on the 21st - 7 days before due date I really only have 19 days to go. Thats not much

I am sure hubby won't be devastated if he couldn't (would give him an excuse not to I guess)
Have just had the phone call to tell me when our babies birthday will be - 21st Nov is when I go in for the ceaser (if not before but I doubt it)
My daughter is in a play for her drama group which is on the 24th and 25th be a shame to miss it but will get someone to video it if I can't depends how well I feel - sure I should be okay 3 or 4 days afterwards???

Hey Ann, just lurking... I had a c-section and hubby didn't do the initial cord cutting, but they left it quite long so that when bubs was out and delivered over to the awaiting paed docs, he got to cut it then. Well Baby could not be turned due to size, room and that it simply was happy the position it was. Bum firmly in my pelvis and head right up in my ribs (this is why I have had sore ribs all the time) the placenta also played a part in getting in the way. It was painful a little bit but the dr doing it was very nice and kept asking if I was okay, I think the pain was caused more with my crohns than with him pushing the baby as I am tender down there anyhow. So where to from now - I have to have a ceaser at 39 weeks so thats 3 weeks to go. I have to have a specialist in scare tissue to do the ceaser as I have a few scars down there due to a couple of earlier operations. The Dr who tried to turn baby would of done it but hes off to brisbane for 3 weeks around then. So once again another specialist we shall meet. Oh break thru though my Hubby was dead against cutting the cord cause he thought he would faint, he said last night that he wanted to cut the cord because he knows he will regret it if he didn't. Having said that I am sure in a ceaser they aready cut the cord...

I must get my a into g and get all the things I want to do organised and done. My pram ordered isn't getting here till at the earliest end of next week and that is also when the changing table arrives too.
Danni - I shall go and have a look at your wee man after this.
Herewego - long time no hear hope alls well with u, seems like since we having this baby a week earlier we are due round about the same time now. You seem to be organised I think today I shall figure out what I still need to get and do.
Debbie - Hope Jaz is feeling better and not keeping u up during the night now.

Hope bubs turns for you Ann before your appointment to get him turned, its next Tues, not today isn't it? And Jaz was 8lb7ozs when she was born at 42 weeks, this one is measuring at 8lb10ozs at 39 weeks so is going to be a bit bigger.
