i re-read this last week and had a MAJOR meltdown    brought back so many emotional issues i had over charli's birth

Maya used to do the same thing Vanessa, she would sleep like an angel all day and night, but between 4-7pm she had to be lugged around the house. She would catnap in the bouncinette or on me, but wouldn't sleep and she seemed to have an inbuilt clock coz if it was 6.55pm she wouldn't go down, but if it was 7.01pm she would settle beautifully. It was a pain in the butt, but didn't affect her the rest of the day so I just went with it until she gradually outgrew it.

I've been leaving my two to cry for a few minutes and I am amazed at how quickly they settle themselves. I hear them and think no way will they go to sleep and within 4-5 minutes they are crashed out. congrats anna!!! can't wait to hear all about your new bubs

katie, i got heaps of period type cramping before i had charli. the night before i went into labour i was getting them constantly. they would come and go randomly and only last for about 10secs. then the next day i was still getting them but they stopped for a few hours and came back, then that night they got into a pattern. hopefully something is happening!

charli is being a lil wench at the mo. she is perfectly happy to sleep in her bassinet all day, but when it gets to 6-7pm, no thanks!! she will only sleep on someone....a habit i really do not want to get into!
she has a cold at the moment so i'm wondering if it's just because of that, as before she got sick she was fine to sleep in her bed at night. the last 2 nights she's slept in our bed only so we can get some sleep!

Hi Guys
Has anyone heard anything from Anna? Am guessing she must have had her wee bubs by now.
Vanessa, my due date is not until the 31st so am not even there yet!!! Midwife has said from 35 weeks that the baby will be early so I got that far too much into my head!!!! She is going to do a sweep at my appointment next week if nothing happens before then.
Last night we thought things were happening. Have had period pains from about 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon and they have got stronger. I still have them today. They are sore but not contractions as they don't come and go. Sometimes they are a bit sharper. I imagine a contraction is something you definitely know is happening and has a definite start and finish point? Is it quite different to period pain?
Vanessa you got lots of period pain things didn't you before you went into labour? Were they constant or on and off.
So strange waiting and not knowing what to expect.

suzie, sorry about your wee one being up the wrong way. my boy jack was the same, head up the whole way through there seems to be a few breech bubs being born at the moment..millie, shelley (i think)

katie, when is/was your due date? charli was 8 days late, so i sympathise the waiting game sucks!

how's everyone else going? lil charli is such a pain at night time. sleeps all day then when i want to go to bed....she wants to cry and feed and poo etc.....

Thanks guys! You get yourself so geared up and then just sit around waiting.
I have done lots of meals for freezer, all my Christmas shopping and birthdays for the next while, caught up on all my letters and emails, tidied, washed babies clothes, met heaps of people for coffees and lunches, read books, watched DVDs. Any other ideas? What did the rest of you do while you were waiting at the end?

Hi Katie. Hope things get going for you soon. It must be very frustrating having had the midwife say you would be early.I know I felt pretty dissapointed when I didnt have Isla on her due date, even tho I knew it wasnt likely! Felt like I was waiting forever, and time was standing still!

Hope everyone else is good! Will be great when we have all had our babies!

How is everyone today.
Anna, I wonder how you are getting on? Hopefully not long to go now.
Shelley, how are you enjoying your time off? Am sure you are loving it. Do you have lots to do/organise or are you able to just relax.
I am just wanting things to happen but they are not. A while ago was getting lots of cramps but haven't had anything at all now for a few days. I think all the midwives theories about the baby being early are not turning out to be very accurate. I wish she had never said it.
It is sunny here today after days of rain so am going to go out now and do some things to keep busy.
Hope those of you with your wee babies are doing well and enjoying your wee ones.

Hi Everyone
Just had text from Millie saying Olivier was born via emergency C Section at 4.30 am this morning. He weighs 2.9 kgs (around 6.8 pounds)!
How exciting!!!!!

Well I am still in one piece - getting lots of niggles and pains the last couple of days. Have had a nice relaxing day today watching some DVD's. Trying to make the most of the peace and quiet until little junior arrives next week. Getting pretty excited now and can't wait to meet our little man.

Hi everyone! Thanks for the congrats! We have just got home this afternoon. Isla is beautiful and is doing well.
We both had a bit of a rough time, but have been let out of hospital as long as I promised to do nothing but feed, eat and sleep!

Millie,..that really sux that they changed the induction date. I felt dissapointed enough when I wasnt in labour on my due date, even tho I knew it wasnt likely I would actaully have her that day!

Emma,..sounds like u are doing great.

Shelley,..Yay for finishing wk! I think u are amazing to have lasted that long! Enjoy the rest!

Katie,..sounds like thinks are getting close! How exciting! I saw my midwife 4 days before I went into labour, and at that stage bubs was only 3/5 engaged, and I hadnt had even the slightest niggle or cramp!

That is fantastic about the nanny Emma. She sounds great!
Am glad to hear midwife has been really helpful with the feeding. It must be a mission with two babies! It is good that the expressing is working out. It must be full on when you haven't slept and then have two babies to sort out. Hang in there and come and vent on here when you need to. If it is any consolation you impress me!!!!

Andie and Vanessa - how are your little girls doing?

I had a mini meltdown this morning, the tandem feeding wasn't working and I only had 1 hours sleep at a go last night, but my brilliant m/w came this morning and has organised a double electric pump for me so I have been expressing and giving the girls the expressed milk which is so great, I can see exactly how much they are getting and no latch pain! (Because they are a little early their suck reflex is a bit prem).

Plus I have a home help nanny starting next Tues, she came to interview tonight and ended up giving Mercedes her bottle and helping me get Maya off to bed which is a great start!

Thats a shame about your date Millie, I can imagine that you would have been all geared up and ready. Glad you are managing to stay postive about the change. Like you say it may not be so busy in the hospital and that would be much nicer. Early next week is still really close and then you'll have your wee boy.
Shelley, only one day to go. YAY! Your last day will go really quickly too and then...REST, REST REST. You will feel so much better next week. Just not having to think about work makes such a difference.
I had my midwife appointment this morning. She said the baby can't get any more engaged now and is in a good position. Have been having heaps of braxton hicks and period pain things which she said is good.
Have been tired today - it is a horrible windy day here in Wellington so a good day just to be warm with a book inside. Tomorrow am going for coffee with some girls from my antenatal group who are due around the same time as me. Am looking forward to it.

Yip I did feel pretty stink when they decided to change the date - in fact I bawled my eyes out because I had prepared myself for the day and had organised family etc to come and visit but nevermind. It actually is better now that it's not labour weekend - perhaps it won't be so busy in the hospital and more people can come and see me. It has been scheduled for early next week so will see how that goes. I guess I could still go into labour naturally

Shelley - I also think you should get yourself a heap of DVD's and lay on the couch - some retail therapy is always good! I just went and splashed out on some stuff for myself - felt really good!

Hey, Millie - all the best for your little one's arrival - that's really stink about having the date changed (I feel for ya, man).  I was glad Ella arrived during the week, as it gave me one week-day and one weekend-day for my hospital stay, and some things (like the breastfeeding talk) don't operate during the weekends.  Still, hope the dissapointment about the date doesn't linger for too long - I'd be pretty upset too!

Morning ladies,

How are we all doing today?

Well I am on the countdown! I was supposed to go in on 21st October for scheduled C-section but date has now been changed to early next week which is a bummer because I had prepared myself for the original date.

Am feeling pretty tired now and getting rather uncomfortable - especially turning in bed at night time.

There are only a few of us left in October!

Hi Ladies,
Im posting on behalf of KELLZ to let you all know that her beautiful baby girl has arrived!!!! ...ISLA MAE was born at 3.56pm yesterday (17th) after 23 hours of labour (VB). 8lb6oz, 52cms long. Both mum and bubs are doing great!!!!

Congratulations Vanessa. How exciting to have a wee girl. That must have been a nice surprise especially when you were so sure you were having a boy. Can't wait to see some pics when you feel up to it.
I have been getting quite a few period type cramps. Are the rest of you getting that? They are not on and off like contractions but more like just there a lot of the time for the last four or five days. I think that can go on for weeks though can't it?
I really wish the midwife hadn't said anything about me not going full term because now I just want it to happen and it is still a couple of weeks until due date.
I feel ready NOW!

hey ladies!   how are we all doing?
as you probably know, i had a baby GIRL, yes, a girl, not the boy i was 100%sure i was having
charli ava buick was born at 3.53am tues by emergency c-section after 6hrs labour. i'll post more in a different thread with some pics.
i got home saturday and it feels sooooo good!!

millie, i know what it's like to have a definate due date for your baby. it's so bizarre and cool at the same time

shelley, i can't believe you are still working!! your a legend!

Isn't it great news re Emma and her girls - can't wait to see the pictures

Katie - I have heaps of lunch/coffee dates this week to keep me occupied. Somewhere in between I have to fit in some time to get the house in order - want to make sure that everything is spotless for when I come home. I know what you mean re feeling tired - I am also at that stage now and getting really uncomfortable especially with baby being in breech position I prefer to lie down more often these days I have also been getting regular cramp period like pains.

Yay for you Shelley having just this week left at work. You have certainly been a trooper lasting this long!

Kellz - all the very best for you this week. I really hope that things start happening for you soon

I wonder whether Emma (Gabby's mum) has had her baby yet??

Anna - hope that all is well with you too.

Hi guys!

Well as u can see Im still here! 4 days overdue now! Had an awful night, lots of cramps. Hoping that it might be the start of things! If I havent had bubs by Fri, I have an appt with midwife,..then she will arrange for me to see Ob about induction,..but cos of labour weekend that wont be till tues or Wed next week,..so I might be around for a while yet! Millie you might even beat me!

We havent heard from Emma(Gabys mum) that often,..but she was due on the 12th like me,...and there is also Anna due on 21st. She posted a comment last week I think.

Just read on another thread that Emma has had her twins! She did so well and had them both with a VB within 5 hours. They were both good weights too. - GO EMMA!
Lots of things happening for the October girls!
Won't be long for you now Kellz - hang in there.
Also not long for you Millie. What have you got planned for this week?
I am good - feeling much more tired now. My busy nesting urges have ended for the moment. Have pretty much done all the things on my list that I wanted to have organised. So hard to sleep at night now as you all know. Have been fairly lazy this weekend. Lots of cramps on and off - kind of like period pain.

I am feeling pretty excited/nervous/anxious about next Saturday. I guess it's pretty good knowing I have a date set but then again anything could happen between now and then. I am like you Kellz and keep thinking every night - is this the night? Especially when you get all kinds of niggles and pains.

Cant wait to see pics of Vanessa, Andie and Emma's babies! I hope they are all doing well.

I am now 3 days overdue, but feeling pretty good. Have actually been sleeping a lot better the last 3 nights, so not feeling quite so exhausted and emotional! Nothing exciting to report!

Millie, what is it like knowing the day u will be having bubs? Its weird not knowing when I might go into labour, or how its gonna start, and each night when I go to bed Im thinking "is it tonight?" and that keeps me awake! At least now I know that I will definatly have bubs within 2 weeks!
