I have a beef with Cigna, too. But not to the same extent you do.

Any solicitors office will also certify the copy too (they won't charge either).

It is awful going through all the paperwork afterwards. I would suggest getting a couple of copies certified.
We had problems at Westpac who took their own copy of the original death certificate and still wanted us to go and get their copy certified. If you go to your local court house and they will certify a copy for you for free, you just need to get it photocopied somewhere first, I think you can do that at most libraries or a copy place would do it, Dh always takes stuff into work and photocopies it for me when I need it, not sure what your DH does but maybe he could do that for you?

dont use cigna..... i am so grrr.

i had only just taken out a policy so only a couple of months premiums paid before mum died... they can cancel the payments but in order for me to get my money back i need to get the death certificate certified by either a JP or a solicitor!!!!

WTF is simple about that...    and the same would apply no matter how long the policy was going for...and they certainly didnt tell me that when i applied!
