Not sure where you live, but someone is selling a moses basket here. We were going to put C straight into his cot but then friends offered to lend us their moses basket so we accepted. We couldn't move the cot between our bedroom/C's room without dismantling the whole thing so he would have had to be in his own room too

As it turned out, he was 2 months early so he fit in the moses basket for AGES - so it was well worth it!!! We ended up buying one new when C was a week old because we new we'd use it so much. We had one with a stand but we'd just put it on the ottoman in the lounge during the day or take it out with us for C to sleep in at friends' places

I reckon between you and a wall on the bed would be fine. I was going to put Campbell straight into his cot, but we got a 2nd hand Valco carrycot which was brilliant! During the day he slept in the lounge, then at night the carrycot got put between DH and myself in our bed. It was perfectly safe because he had his own protected space, which was high enough to not worry about getting blankets over top of him.

We got a plain Moses Basket and stand from baby trenz, and it's been just great. H sleeps in it in our room, if we go to friends'/parents' places we take it for him to sleep in and it's really nice and snug. I just got a cariboo basinette for my babyshower from my brothers. It fits in your normal cot and hangs off the side so it can be swung to rock bubs to sleep.

It only cost $150 new from farmers you could look at this. Mum saw them with me ages ago and decided from then that she wanted me to have one so made the boys buy it for me! She's good like that.

I agree Kate, I think they seem so very expensive for something that will be used for such a short time.

I was going to get a moses basket for this baby but have been offered and Hammock, and 2 bassinettes (I will use hammock then one of the bassinettes when its a bit bigger) so I dont need to go to the expense.

Would love a stand, but from what I have seen it's a big difference in cost.

I have had a look at a few sites and trade me....Is $130-160 a good price for basket and matress. That just seems so expensive.

Hi there, you can get little stands/rockers to put the basket on. We have got one for our Bean so she can be beside my bed for first few weeks then move the basket to the cot. This way she'll get used to her surroundings (in the cot) and it will hopefully make the transition of basket to cot heaps easier. Basket is great because you can travel or just visit people and take basket with you and baby is in surroundings they're used to. We didn't have a moses basket so don't have any recommendations. I was originally going to have baby go straight into cot, but am now thinkingI want her as close as possible. Leaning towards a moses basket....any recommendation of brands?
