Author: Babykatnz
Subject: 27132
Posted: 08 July 2009 at 4:15pm

Hi

I had DS without trying when I was with my ex-hubby, and then met DP and after 9 months of trying with no luck, someone suggested to me that there may be a problem (our family doesnt really have a problem concieving, but DPs mum did, so it was suggested maybe something had been passed down) so we both got tests done, and DP was found to have a terrible Sperm concentration AND morphology (how 'healthy' they look), we decided straight away to go to fertility specialists as it was clear we werent going to have a baby without any help.

The specialist put DP on a 3 month course of a supplement called Menevit (male version of Elevit) but at the end of that bottle there'd been no change, and we were told it was time to go on the IVF waiting list as he didnt even have enough to try AI (Artificial Insemination, my baby brain seems to have deleted the human equivalent from my vocab!) DP asked for another 3 months worth of Menevit and went home and did some research and found a herbal supplement called Herbal Y Extreme for men, contains a herb known as Horny Goat Weed, 7 weeks later we found out that we had concieved our daughter without any further help! He fully credits Menevit and the goat weed to being the means to him finally being a dad, and now that we know what can work, we will be trying it much sooner next time around (just have to wait for the dust to settle from this ones arrival and start convincing him another one would be just as good as first time around haha)

Good luck!

You have loads of time, but it does sound like your partner might not be quite as fertile as you...

Maybe just book an appt, it'll take a while to get anyway, and keep trying in the meantime? I wouldn't worry though, with a history like that there's lots to be hoepful about.
