There is a juice called tart cherry juice that you can buy online, company is called Tru2u Tart Cherry Juice. It actually costs fifty dollars a bottle but its a concentrate and it lasts five weeks if you drink it every day as directed. Its full of antioxidants and has lots of health benefits. It may take a couple of weeks to build up in your system. I now sleep through the night no problems. Even though it might seem pricey, it has been well worth it, especially in terms of my sanity.
I haven't tried it yet - I'm not quite at that stage but I guess anythings worth a try.

The other thing I have sometimes found helpful (although not so far in this pregnancy) is shifting your thoughts to an enjoyable project (a pysch suggested it so it's not as random as it sounds!). Something like, for me, painting my little boys wooden chairs, or decorating his room. That has worked for me sometimes although if I've already worked myself up about not sleeping then it's not so great.

I hope you find something that works for you - there's nothing worse than lying awake at night.

I know it sounds strange but it stops me thinking about other things, relaxes my mind and I often fall asleep.

You could also consentrate on relaxing your body bit by bit, start at your toes then ankles, calves etc etc. This should take your mind off other things and help you sleep.

Good luck!

Do try those things though, they won't always work but you may find a trick that does for you.

And if one more person tells me it's "natures way of preparing me for when the baby gets here" I will scream.

My doctor has prescribed me mild sleeping tablets but I am so reluctant to take them.

Hugs, because I know just how wretched you must be feeling.

It doesn't matter what I do, I simply can not get a good nights sleep. I usually fall asleep ok but wake up about 11.30pm and toss and turn for the rest of the night. My mind ticks over and over with totally random stuff and it seems now I am starting to fret about being so tired so am in that vicious circle of not getting enough sleep, stressing about it and sleeping even worse.

Short of hitting myself over the head with a baseball bat to knock me out I don't know what to do! I have tried the Rescue Remedy Sleep, tried sleeping in a seperate bed to DH and DD (she still comes into us in the middle of the night), I have tried taking panadol before bed to see if that helps but nothing seems to be working!

Any ideas would be gratefully received.
