But that would only be the case when they were little? Once they got older they would sit up more anyway?

Is there something special about the legitimate "Tummy tubs" or could I use say........a horse feed bucket instead?

We probably only used ours for about 3 months (from 2-6 mths). I found after about 6 mths she got quite cramped in it. Now we use it as a bucket!

Looked very cute in it though! Was around 2-3 mths old in this picture

Okay, these are probably dorky as questions but hey...first time mum and all.
a. what is so great about the tub compared to normal baby bath - do you use tummy tub for longer? I guess if have normal big bath not really needed?
b. couldn't you just use a big bucket lol? or is there something special about it?

We used one until around 6-7 months and it was great, will use it this time around too. Thanks Sweetpea, i had a look at the old threads but was hoping someone who posted the original post might have brought one and had an opinion lol. Have considered the kitchen sink but i get a sore back jsut from washing the dishes so mustnt be the right height for me.

Hello, we have a tummy tub because our house we are renting doesn't have a bath so needed something small also (and no I don't use the one on the changing table, too much hassle )

The baby can stay in it as long as 1 year or more. It's great, there is some bendy movements to clean down there but they really shouldn't need any "scrubbing" hehe. See piccie, there is lots of room to clean the baby.
Tayla loves it. We only use it during the day or on the weekend as she now has showers with daddy in the evening.

I've used both baths and much prefer the Tummy tub, so much easier to wash her and to carry around to empty it.

Hey All,

Just wondering about tummy tubs -are they better than a baby bath? we have a rather small house and dont have much room anywhere so thought a tummy tub might be good, but are they worth it? Does baby stay in it longer than a few months?

Also how do you wash baby in it, like around its bum and legs etc...... ?
