It does sit a bit funny if your seats are slanted backwards. Towels had to be put under the front part of the carseat so that it was at the right angle. It has a line that is meant to be parrallel to the ground which we needed the towels to ensure this happened. NOt a problem once its in the right place though because you dont have to move it]]>

Its been great!!! Henry has been in it since birth - although someone did lend us a capsule which was very usefull too. He's very comfy in it and it doesn't have a lot of extra c**p that i think is completly over the top. We didn't want to spend heaps of money but wanted a solid one. Hope that helps]]>

It's 10 years for the Safe n Sounds or the Brio Zento (which I'd love but I really can't justify almost $600 on a car seat).]]>

The only thing that has me wavering on the Scenera is that the service life is only 5-7 years (compared to 10 years for Evenflo, for example).  But my next preferred seat (an Evenflo one) is $379, which is a big jump from $180 <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley24.gif" border="0">]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=19766">weegee</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 25636<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 02 April 2009 at 3:34pm<br /><br />The tether strap is needed for some seats to make sure they're secure - bolts into an anchor point in your car (or sometimes to the seat in front).  <br /><br />The Scenera needs it when forward facing but that won't be a problem, I only hate the ones going to an anchor point while rear facing because you have to lift bubs over it to put them in.  <br /><br />See, PITA:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.childrestraintsafety.com/images/rear_facing/rearfacingaustralianseat.jpg" border="0"><br /><br />The annoying bar thing on some (like our Royale) isn't really that annoying, it just pulls out and sits against the back of the actual car seat for extra stability, to stop the seat rocking back and forth, you don't actually have to attach it <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0"><br /><br />For research purposes, the Ask Our Experts section on here and the (same expert's) website <a href="http://www.childrestraintsafety.com/home.html" target="_blank">Child Restraint Safety</a> (where I stole that pic from) are both really useful <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0">]]>

I've pretty much decided on the <a href="http://www.winkalotts.co.nz/Car_Seats/C&#111;nvertable_Restraints/7168/Cosco_Scenera_Car_Seat_-_Richm&#111;nd_Pattern.html" target="_blank">Cosco Scenera</a> - only $180, it rear faces until 16kg which is important to me, and it doesn't require tethering while rear facing (cos I find the tether strap on our Safe n Sound a PITA!). We went out to the showroom in Auckland to have a look, rather then ordering online.<br /><br />For our 2nd car we decided we'd rather go with a cheaper new carseat (that meets NZ safety standards) then a flasher second hand one off TM<span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by kabe</span>]]>
