Hi

Lilfatty was just wondering if you could explain why the dash i not a great phil and ted model. I thought it was meant to be a step up from the sport model and presumed it would be better for the kind of offroad and active things kitechick mentioned. Maybe a dash is not the way to go? I think you ve made a good choice. We had a MB first and I LOVED it We have now had to change to a Phil and Ted as have my second and still need the first bub in a buggy. The Phil and Ted is SO much less sturdy and I don't think the quality of it is nearly as good. My husband agrees too. From online research of above cheapest I could find for MB UE was at $749. Just ordered from The BF on a special for $699.

Hi KiteChick, Wow,, your post was great. I'm trying to decide on which pram to buy as well (out of Mountain Buggy & phil Ted). I like MB Urban Elite as well but they are quite expensive. it would be great if you could let me know where you get yours from (Cheapest place) :)

Thanks so much everyone for sharing your opinions and expereince.

I am veering towards the Mountain Buggy - Urban Elite (although I will use it for jogging I prefer not to have a fixed wheel esp. for manoeuvering around shops!)

Here is my summary of the pros and cons (taken from your comments and also product review sites). Some do contradict each other! Apologies for this essay but figured may be helpful for other mums to be deciding !

PROS:
*Better for one child
*Easier to push and navigate round shops
*Durable
*excellent on trails, gravel or sidewalks *Manoeuvrable on rough terrain
*Double great for two kids
*Dependable and durable
*fully reclining seat, which makes it appropriate for newborns
*Its swivelling front wheel makes for easier manoeuvring, and the wheel can be locked for better off-road stability. big chunky wheels make it easy going on rougher terrain and is easy to use on grass/sand or gravelly/rocky areas as well as the day to day streets/malls etc.
*ton of storage space
*Quick release wheels
*5-point safety harness keeps baby safe and secure
*Rear wheel suspension for a smoother ride on any surface
*Hard wearing canvas fabric – water repellent and durable
*Sun hood with viewing window so you and your little one can interact while you’re on the move
*Safe and easy two-step fold
*Easily adjustable straps/buckles etc
*Easy to fold down, easy to get up and really easy to use
*The adjustable handle and drink holder are very thoughtful.

CONS
*The reclining straps are difficult to adjust, particularly when baby is in the pram. The buckles get sticky
*Price
*Inconvenient to travel with because of its size the airlines insist you pick up from baggage claim, which means carrying baby through large meandering airports.
*The back wheels seem to always catch in doorways as it is wide between wheels
*Heavy - Large and bulky - difficult to manoeuvre in buses and other tight spaces
*Cannot fold with one hand
*Not compact when folded down & takes up the majority of your boot space
*cannot convert to a 2 seater
*Storm & Sun covers are expensive & come as optional extras.
*Doesn’t have the option of turning to face you unless you buy a completely different pram as extra which is expensive
*If the seat is reclined, it is difficult to get to the shopping basket, but also space is compromised with the seat as it sits low into the basket.

I had a P&T sport, it was great till the kids got to heavy also got punchers so P&T changed the wheels.

MB urban elite was my first choice, but then decided on baby jogger as it is lighter, cheaper, and easier to fold (you can do it with one hand!).

I've got a MB and I hate it now. Cooper is 18mths old soon and he's around 13kg's and the buggy is around 12kgs so I'm pushing 25kg's around the place, and I'm over it. I want a Childcare Rover or something similar thats light and easy to push.

Don't get me wrong they are fantastic for when they are babies, and quite trendy etc... I prefer the MB Swift, I wish they'd been around when we brought ours, smaller and lighter and the wheels are smaller too.

Would agree with the other posters.
I have the P&T as we were planning on having 2 close together. However, my son doesn't fit under the sunshade when we use in baby/toddler mode, so I bought a double Mountain Buggy, which I LOVE. I agree with the others, I think for one baby the mountain buggy is the best! Esp if you are doing alot of active stuff.  I have a P&T sport though since I had 2 under 2 and it is great, we live rurally so it handles the rough driveway, paddocks etc easily and is also a good around town pram Has been well worth the money so far!

Hi.
We decided to go for a P&T because we were hoping to have 2 children close in age...now we do and the P&T is great for this reason and I love it. However, can't help but think that the mountain buggy is a superior pram for one child though as every time i go to move my friend's mountain buggy at a cafe etc, i love the feel of it and it's much easier to push and navigate than my P and T. Friends who have had a mountain buggy for their first child and have gone on to buy a P and T for their two children always say they prefer their mountain buggy.

If I was only going to have one child .. then a mountain buggy would probably be better than a P&T.

However . if you are going to have more than one child a P&T would be my choice (DH runs with Issy every day in the P&T and thinks its awesome)

I am trying to decide between the Phil and Teds Sport and Mountain Buggy Elite

I want something that is great for walks on beach with the dog and baby , running on the road (up to about 45 mins) , easy to take shopping and also easy to get in and out of the car!
