Thanks for all your responses! It seems its a 50:50 and I am currently feeling open to both options! My current dilemma is whether to buy new or 2nd hand and pine v rimu ... Just preference I think We have only had a closed end cot and have had no problems with it Have fun shopping!

Hi.
we bought an open ended cot and we love it. However, the change table is at the end of the cot and now that our boy is mobile he loves to put his arms through and get his hands on all his nicely folded and stuffed cloth nappies and chuck them around the room! We went for an open ended cot for the opposite reason given by Neoshasmummy - the nursery is the sunniest room in the house and gets really warm in summer so we thought an open ended cot would help with airflow over bubs. I prefer close ended cots as when bubs starts moving around there are less areas for him/her to get arms or legs stuck in. My inlaws bought our first cot, its got closed ends but a tongue and groove sort of look to it and its cream.....I love it, didn't want an open end one but I think it was just a personal preference.

2nd time around, as no1 is still in the cot(as a bed with no sides tho) and has a seemingly morbid fear of her big bed, we got a cheaper second hand one which has open ends. As soon as we can get leah out of the other cot I am going to put Joel in her one and sell the second hand one.

They both a fine and it doesn't bother me that they are different.
