We used our hammock during the day and Jack slept in a bassinette at night. I wanted to try and get him used to being able to sleep in different places. I loved the hammock for my daughter, she had bad reflux and it definately soothed her, but I would warn against using it too much!!

My daughter loved hers so much she slept in it all the time...and of course when she got too big for it (her little feet used to poke out the end...so cute!) she wasnt happy with the idea of sleeping in a cot, as she was used to the gentle movement and the curved mattress. Cue a year of struggling with her sleeping habits! We used the hammock instead of the bassinet and it was fantastic. Our little boy loved it and it was so easy to take away with us. I our hammock too, I raved about it on a few of the other threads but basically it was a Godsend for lil miss who utterly refused to sleep in her cot once the reflux reared it's ugly head. We did exactly the same! Also because the nature sway stand didn't feel very stable.
I haven't used it yet though as baby is still to be born.

If we owned our house I would have put hooks in the ceiling, as the hammock would be hanging a bit higher which would make it easier to put in and take out the baby. Thank you all so much for the information I'm looking at them all, and glad I still have a few months to go.
Lilfatty i agree the natures sway stands are not quite what I'd hoped for though I thinh my HB is thinking of hanging it from the celing via a masive stud......men and their projects!! I won't mention the dust or disorder he has created in the last week who says men don't nest! it's the cleaning I'd like to see take effect
and thanks for the advice on the extra spring

Yip, ditto LOVING the hammock. I hated giving it back (we only hired it for a month). It was great for my refluxy baby, and he was so much happier in it as a new born - all snug and cosy. It was good to be able to easily jiggle it, and we would pack it and take it when we went away (bottom photo in grandparent's wardrobe)

LOVE the hammock!
We used it for both our children and found it fantastic for settling them.
My second child was a reflux baby and the hammock was a godsend for him as I was able to adjust it so he wasn't lying as flat.
Definitely recommend getting one of those.
I wasn't such a fan of the sling for wee babies, I found it really difficult to get them lying comfortably without them getting swallowed up in it.

We bought a Natures Sway hammock and stand when Jack was a few mths old and absolutely loved it!
