My DD's had the blood RAST test done 3 times now, and we're due for the next one, but we've never had to pay - and she was tested for maybe 10-12 allergens each test. Did your specialist order the test, or was it your GP? If your child needs the test done (i.e. it isn't elective), then you shouldn't have to pay.

As a tip for the blood test, go to the biggest collection centre you can - they're more likely to have staff experienced with taking blood from babies/toddlers.

It can be hard to find a vein in babies as they are so fine, so sometimes it takes more than one go with inserting the needle. You're best to go to a lab that is experienced in taking bld from wee ones. We have a good one on the Nthshore. Eva is getting retested tomorrow, which I'm not looking forward too
