Wow, thanks for telling me! They must be in high demand. We actually went looking for a macpac child carrier on the weekend and had no luck - macpac NZ are pretty much sold out of all their child carriers and aren't sure if they'll get any more in before Christmas. Apparently they're waiting on a shipload of them from China.

Thanks for the feedback kakapo and thunderwolves. We are planning to get one, but just have to wait and see if we can find a good second hand one. If not we'll get it brand new. We have a secondhand Possum one I think - it's basic but really comfy for both me and DS.  Didn't start using it until he was 6 months old, but only because that is when we bought it. Has a nice wide waistband and feels just as comfortable as my Macpac travel/tramping pack (which is probably of similar age).

These backpacks are great to use when travelling by plane etc on your own - you can fit sooo much baby gear in the pack themselves and its great having both hands free for your own luggage. Plus makes the trek through the airport with bubs much easier.

Has anyone bought any of the Macpac baby backpack range? (koala, possum, vamoose) If so, how old was your baby when you started putting him/her in it? I realise you can only put them in when baby's head can support itself for an extended period of time.
